E3 2010: TRON: Evolution The Video Game Screens

Well, that was quick. A little more than a month past the launch of the development house's biggest game (Tron: Evolution) Disney has decided to shutter the Propaganda Games.

Propaganda, based in Vancouver, B.C., started up in 2005 and was bought by Disney the same year. They are the company behind 2008's Turok, which took the can't-miss premise of a first-person shooter with dinosaurs and made a lackluster game.

RATINGTron: Evolution Review

The company's closure comes after news of disappointing sales of Evolution (only about 46,000 Xbox copies of the game were sold in the U.S. in the game's release week) as well as a game canceled in October (Pirates of the Caribbean: Armada of the Damned), so it can't really be seen as a surprise or anything. Still, it's sad when a game studio shuts down, even when it makes mainly half-baked games, heavy on the movie tie-ins.

I actually liked the Wii version of Tron better than the 360/PS3 version. The Tron: Evolution Battle Grids for the Wii was heavy on the mini-games, and lighter on the story, and reminded me a lot more of the original movie than its big console brother.

First off, does this mean that tron evolution battle grids is gonna be taken out of the shelves?

Second, i saw the trailer for AotD and it looked pretty cool. I would have to see some gameplay footage top see if i actually want the game but i'm kinda disappointed the game's being canceled because if Disney really gave it their all in making the game, it could be a really good game and sell very well. Also, if the Tron games were developed better such as adding WiFi features on Tron Evolution Battle Grids, it also could've been a hit.

any game or movie that ties into each other is lame and, at best, only done for the novelty of it. Not even Resident Evil was worth the price, none of them were.

I can't see how people are beating Tron: Evolution up so badly. I've played it already through the PS3 and had plenty of fun. It's not one of the best move-tie in games out there for sure, and could have done some work to it. But it was still fun none-the-less and would say decent above mediocre at best.

Now AotD, that really blew me away when they announced it as scraped. Just hope they can all get back together under EA and make AotD since it won't be under the Pirates name. Maybe for the best since they will have more creative freedom and not being tied down to an already created world.

They didn't really make anything that great, but I still feel bad for the guys. Tron was pretty mediocre, although I did like the portions where you got to fight as a tank.

I'm sure they are getting offers for AotD. I would bet EA is interested.

I REALLY wanted Armada of the Damned, it looked so good and was exactly what I wanted from a PotC game, but noooo you cancel it. Hopefully it will come out some day.

    Great job disney.
You buy a company, force it to cut its dev time in half and push out turok, then when the company comes to you with a new game idea (armada of the damned) and its well built (almost all critics loved what they saw and played) you say sure, then cut the legs out when a game tie in gets in the way. THEN when the game tie in bombs (there have been 6 movie tie in games with 70+ rating in 10 years) they shut down the company.

Way to change, disney. Way to change

Well to be honest most of the tron games were a disaster. The 360 version and PC version is annoying to play at best. The PSP version is extremely short and filled with BUG galore. And the wii, well its the Wii..

Sad to see a company go but really they could have done a better game overall which may have sold more.. The Limited Ed's on this game are paper weights in every gamestop in California.. No one wants a plastic light cycle for 80.00 on top of the normal price.
