The Nintendo 3DS handheld release date is March 27 in the U.S., and will cost $249.99. The glasses-free 3D device will come in two shades at launch: "Cosmo Black" or "Aqua Blue." In the launch “window”, between March and June, there will be 25 different games available, including these first-party games: Pilot Wings Resort, Nintendogs + Cats, Steel Diver, Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, Paper Mario and Star Fox 64 3D. (Correction: Earlier, we erroneously reported these games as "launch titles." They're actually due out sometime between March 27 and E3 in June.)
The 3DS will come with a game called Face Raiders installed, in which you take images of your face and add them to a shooting gallery.
The $249.99 price is a bit cheaper than I had thought, and the launch window line-up of games is pretty impressive -- who doesn't want to play 3D Pilot Wings? -- so I'm pretty impressed. What about you? Are you going to be lining up to purchase a 3DS?

For some reason I'm not (currently) interrested in the 3DS. Perhaps it's handheld gaming fatigue over the years as I pretty much own every other handheld period. Also, I'm wondering who in my family will actually use this. For the DSi I got 3, one for each of my sons (9, 14, 15), but they now show zero interrest in any handhelds except for new cell phone games (WP7 and iPhone). Even I am currently satisfied with phone games at the moment. Most of my time is spent playing 360 and PS3 games on my very large TV and I'm not really looking forward as much to spending long hours in front of small screens. I think I'm getting old :(.
At $250.00 (and probably more where I live) and for 3D which may just turn out to be a fad or too bothersom on the eyes to play for any period of time I'm passing until it's on the market for awhile, the 3D concept sinks or swims, and until the price drops.
PS: don't give me any of the "real gamer" bull like other posts. I've likely played more games over my life than most of you combined. My gaming habbits are not bound to hype and do not require me to buy every new device on release.

I'm interested in trying it out. But you know they will have a new and improved 3DS by Christmas time. I'm not complaining about anything other than that record. I might wait and see how things go before shelling out the money now. Get your Super Duper 3DS now with fresh pine tree scent! 12/15/2011

Unfortunately the price tag to me seems *fairly* reasonable, but for me, out of reach until maybe Christmas of 2011 or later (I don't think I'm lucky enough to get it by my birthday in October, especially if there are other games on the horizon that'll sap $40-$60 from me because the pre-order perks are good. I am anxious to see it and the *good* games that will come out for it in time.

I must say I am getting a 3DS it just looks awesome and the games coming out are amazing portable OOT sold! But it makes you wonder how can Sony respond to this they have to very creative and try to come out with something that can beat the 3DS. Not even HD screens on a psp and other stuff could take down the 3ds. I just wish Sony knew the video game history and studied Sega! They are Sega right now in the handheld market they have the only other alternative to Nintendo. Now if Sony could make where you could play your console games from last gen by taking the disk out of the ps2 and putting it in the psp 2 it would be like the nomad which was awesome!
Also am I the only one that is amazed sony is making a PlayStation phone? The competition is Nintendo not apple!
At Dpsx7 you need to watch making fun of Microsoft they helped create one of gods gift to video games the dreamcast which was the last truly awesome video game system in my opinion.

Mine already has 100$ down on it! I'm am very happy to hear that it comes out near the end of march, Since I'm a poor college student and only get payed on the 25th of every month. Just need to put 50$ down every month, and maybe a little more for the games and then I got one! And maybe start to reserve the huge amount of games that come out later this year and slowly pay them off as well.

You guys are all over re-acting. My god. $250 for a THREE DIMENSIONAL, handheld videogame system. Is the PS3 or 360 3D? Not without a $1,200+ 3DTV they're not. So, for $250 I think it's reasonable. Not to mention the Virtual Console too. Street Pass is also amazing. Props to you Nintendo, the conference was amazing. I loved the whole thing, it was truly amazing, and you are going to pull us into the new era of videogaming. I'm going to pre-order mine today.

Only $250 and already more quality games than a 360? Yeah I'm very interested. But do I get it at launch or wait for the first sale or bundle offer? I'm already going to be spending a lot on Wii and PS3 games this year. I guess this is finally a reason to upgrade from my original model DS.
That one person above is stupid as hell. Nobody wants the 3DS to do all that crap. Focus on games and do it right. Trying to shove all that useless fluff in there leads to a dud like the PSP. Apple products are guaranteed trash and probably twice the price of the 3DS.

Ocarina of Time 3D, Paper Mario, Animal Crossing, Mario Kart 3D, Kid Icarus, Street Fighter 4 3D, Resident Evil.....this is an amazing list of games. Yes, it's a steep price, but I am not the iphone/smartphone type of person. So not having a lot of "extra" features doesn't concern me. This is Nintendo. You're getting top-notch games. I'm not buying this for features, I'm buying this for years of gaming entertainment I'll possible get. Or maybe I'm just ignorant? Whatever, I'm still getting this.

NO WAY!!! I will keep my iPod touch and windows phone 7, both play games and more. Plus games are cheaper and I can just download them, I don't have to go to the store and pay 30 or 40 bucks. You can keep your 3D Nintendo.....
