The Nintendo 3DS handheld release date is March 27 in the U.S., and will cost $249.99. The glasses-free 3D device will come in two shades at launch: "Cosmo Black" or "Aqua Blue." In the launch “window”, between March and June, there will be 25 different games available, including these first-party games: Pilot Wings Resort, Nintendogs + Cats, Steel Diver, Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, Paper Mario and Star Fox 64 3D. (Correction: Earlier, we erroneously reported these games as "launch titles." They're actually due out sometime between March 27 and E3 in June.)
The 3DS will come with a game called Face Raiders installed, in which you take images of your face and add them to a shooting gallery.
The $249.99 price is a bit cheaper than I had thought, and the launch window line-up of games is pretty impressive -- who doesn't want to play 3D Pilot Wings? -- so I'm pretty impressed. What about you? Are you going to be lining up to purchase a 3DS?

i dont think ill buy one at launch. definitely get one at some point. prolly wait for a decent bundle pack or atleast untill a few of the launch 'window' titles like Oot, pilot wings etc are nice and cheap. (that and don't wanna get stuck with a 1st gen 3DS if a newer one comes along within 12 months or so)

I personally think that 3D is a complete fraud and a joke on all consumers . I have a Samsung 3D HD TV and watching anything in 3D, is absolutely no better than watching something that is in BluRay and if you think I fooling just check it out at your local Best Buy etc.
At $249.99 a pop, I really don't think there is ever going to be any line ups for this hand held once you actually see what the the " 3D " graphics really do look like.
I'll give you a hint. Remember the N64 ? What was the big selling point for that Nintendo unit ? You got it ! The games were in all suppose to be in 3D. So here we are 15 years later, and Nintendo is still feeding us the same old marketing crap just to suck you in for that almighty dollar.

I thought it would be that price. I would get it if Kid Icarus was a lunch title, but I don't see any games at lunch I want to play. Hopefully more will be announced.

ensure that the remake of Ocarina of Time is available immediately and I'm in!

To all those babies crying oh no $250 is too much. Quit crying they could have EASILY priced it higher with the all the hype and press they got winning best in show at E3 and having it be priced liek $300 in japan and around $400US in Europe.
Plus it does 3D without glasses! Like playing movies in 3D, taking pics/video in 3D, augmented reality, virtual console for gameboy and GBA games with some being updated in color and with 3D effects, and playing games with seamless instant convesion of 3D to 2D without needing to restart or having to reload it does it instantly.
I assume most of you did not go to E3 and do a hands on demo, because i did and trust me it's awesome and very worth it. when you see it and play with it you will want it.
Mario kart, Paper Mario, Kingdom hearts, pilot wings, FINALLY a new kidicarus game which has not happened since the NES days, 2 resident evil games, super street fighter 4 3D, OCARINA OF TIME, MGS 3, and they said wil have 30 games during the launch window.
THIS WILL BE HUGE!!!

There seems to be a solid list of release games, but no... I'm not jumping on board. $250.00 is way more that I would consider paying for a hand-held. I rather put that money towards something like a PS3... sorry Nintendo.

Well Im obviously getting it as I already have $50 on one at a game stop since december 29th, before I knew the price but anyone with an ounce of common sense would have come to the conclusion by then that the system would be around $250. But I am also a technophile that has a solid job as a developer and can afford such things, but I won't talk about that, instead here are some facts and other predictions for people.
First the majority of 3DS early adopters own a DS, trade it in or sell it now.
Personally Im going on a vacation next month so after that I plan on trading in my DSi towards credit for the 3DS. The trade in value when I checked this month was still well over $50 for a DSi which drops the price for me to under $200. Sure Ill lose my shantae saves that I could otherwise port, but those aren't worth that much money.
Secondly, Nintendo knows its too expensive, thats part of the point.
The big N keeps getting burn by releasing their new hardware at a price point that is out stripped by demand. The Wii is a prime example of this and looking back Im sure a $299.99 launch price for the Wii would have made more money for nintendo as the early adopters would have still outstripped supply, and then they could have dropped the price to $250 once they met demand.
That second point is a big one, the 3DS is not easy to make and they have stated already that they believe they will have 4 million units ready for this year total. Thats not a lot world wide, demand will be greater than supply, virtually regardless of the price point.

What hype people come on for a hand held that runs graphically like psp and a psp2 is coming with the same features of the 3ds true it will be more expensive but if it does console of this generation on the go that's what i want and if i could use my ps3 like onlive play the game on my ps3 and stream it on the psp2 example im playing gt5 and if i have to go out i turn on my psp2 use remote play or whatever there call it this time and continued gt5 on the go it mite not do that but i hope is way up

I've never bought a Nintendo DS. Do you guys think I should get this one? I kinda want it, but the games don't really get my blood flowing. Does it play old DS titles as well?

i think the 3ds looks sick, but the price is really breaking my balls. I think i can wait till it goes down to at least $170
Stellerman7
Was really hoping Star fox would be a launch title but at least Ocarina of Time will be available.

The psp 2 supposedly will have ps3 quality graphics so why are people raving about the wii quality of the 3ds? The wii is barely past the original xbox when it comes to graphics and it's purely for casual people. Of course they have to charge a lot for the hardware, they only expect people to buy 2-3 games for it and then let it collect dust on their shelf beside their wii. I'm gonna wait for the psp 2, buy it for probably the same price and get more games on it that are actually fun to play seriously, not just when I'm riding the bus and am bored.
daughtryboi1993
ill wait for like a tech demo in the gamestop cause i want to see this glassesless 3d then ill think about buying it
Bigburito
I find it funny that people are still acting surprised that it's not $300 dollars even though just looking at how nintendo has sold previous consoles shows they always go about $50 dollars cheaper than they sell it in Japan.
also the price is fine for the console, I'd bet my left nut that of all those people who are crying about the price probably have bought a PSP when it was expensive as hell or more than likely bought an iPhone at least once (which was what $400-$500 when the first came out?) honestly for the power of the hardware and the amount of good software that's backing it up at launch no less, makes the price seems quite sound...

Well, when you consider that this is the first commercial device to offer 3D technology without the use of glasses, I'd say that $250 price is fairly reasonable.
And 250 yen would only be about...less than a dollar, really XD

I Would Buy It If I Didn't have A Gameboy, Gameboy Pocket, Gameboy Light, Gameboy Advance, Gameboy SP, Gameboy Micro, Nintendo DS, Nitendo DS Lite & Nintendo DSi...1 Every 2 Years...orry My Bills Come First This Year...LoL
Captain Anarchy
So is the 3DS just an upgraded DS or is it going to be an entirely new hand held platform. And will Pokemon Black/White be available for it?
UltimaBlackMage
Great... AU$400 on release. It better be region free because I need my JRPG fix and if it isn't then I'm screwed because when I find out it will probably be too late and I'll have to buy a second 3DS from the US. I also own a fair few US and JP DS games and if I can't play them on it I'll be furious.
DPsx72
If M$ did then that's probably why the console didn't last long. Sega was great back in the day and it's a shame they had to go software-only. I'd easily take them back than look at more of M$'s blunders.
Anyway Sony is too focused on shoving useless crap on their portable. They need to take the hint from the DS and just do gaming, get that one thing right instead of a dozen things half-assed. That fluff is why I'm much more interested in the 3DS than PSP2. Who wants a friggin phone in their PSP?
Kill Audio
I would LOVE to play Ocarina of Time on a handheld.......but I don't want to spend that much.
I'll wait until the price goes down to $50 and when they already have 7 more versions of the 3DS out so it will become obsolete.
Besides, 3D doesn't concern me in any way, even if it means I don't have to wear glasses. I love Nintendo but I hate the marketing that they do with certain systems and games.
