Telltale Game's Jurassic Park Game

The first wave of details about Telltale Games’s five-part Jurassic Park rushed in earlier in the week, and now we have our first look at the game in action, compliments of Game Informer. Sadly, as you can tell by the above shot, Newman is nowhere to be found.

Definitely check out the full article, but here are a couple choice shots to get you started:

Telltale Game's Jurassic Park Game

I love the direction Telltale is taking with this game. Focusing on character and adventure over action is absolutely the right way to approach a Jurassic Park game. I’m thinking about it right now, and I’m already tense. Can’t wait to see more about the game soon.

Do you think favoring adventure instead of action is the right move, or would you rather have a Left 4 Dead with dinosaurs?

Wonder if they'll update the catalogue of dinos considering the Triceratops is no longer considered a real dinosaur.

I think that it should play just like the movie. It shouldn't be about shooting as many dinosaurs as possible, but instead, it should have you running away from dinosaurs while trying to escape. But you shouldn't be some helpless fool running about in a dinosaur infested "Park", you should be able to set traps and observe the dinosaurs, a little like Batman (just without all of the Batarangs).

There is so much to explore at Site A and Site B of Jurrassic Park. I think this game should be awesome. The graphics look ok. The vehicle models I do have to say look pretty bad though.

    *CAUTION*
This is long, but written to help inspire and invoke thought beyond agreement of just another adventure game or movie game at that.

While I'm excited to see a Classic movie title remastered into a new gen game. I think going the adventure route is just repeating the past. I remember playing some SNES side scrolling action and over the top action Jurassic Park games back in the day.

I wish that newer games would attempt to break the trend and create new creative game play. When I sat down for 5 mins thinking how would I recreate this game? I first thought what was it that made the movie so intense? and the answer was, the feeling of being chased, running away from dinosaurs that would eat the beloved characters.

So instead of the repeating the past, imagine a MIRRORS EDGE type of Jurassic Park game. Imagine having a first person view of the dinosaur, and being chased in the jungle, or in a kitchen and having to jump for a vent, or crawl into a shelf. See what would make the J.P. mirrors edge type game so good; is to not know how close the dinosaur is too you, and to look behind you could be your ultimate mistake.

If i have the power to easily kill a dinosaur then the game made a mistake and has gone away from what made the movie such a classic. The game needs to capture the emotion of fear, like swimming in the ocean and seeing a shark fin with no rescue in sight. The fear of being chased on a life or death matter, and with little to defend yourself.

So does anyone agree to this? honestly what are your thoughts, don't just agree and give it no real thought.

i deffo would have preferred an over the top ridiculous 3rd person action-adventure game where i get to shoot some dinosaurs and maybe some soldiers that were John Hammonds henchmen trying to stop me or something. Point and click adventure games like Monkey Island are not only dated but extremely dull in my opinion.

Adventure is the right move. Less is more in this case. If I'm walking around not knowing when I'll be attacked by a dinosaur will keep me on edge more than anything.

Sleeper hit? Hidden gem? Only time will tell but I have a feeling time is hinting on a great game.
