Pokemon Black and White Balling Up on March 6

Pokemon Black and White have become the fastest game for the Nintendo DS to have sold 5 million units in Japan. Black and White were already deemed the best-selling game in Japan for 2010. According to Famitsu as of January 9, the two games combined have sold 5,036,274 units. The game has only been out for about three months, selling 4.9 million copies between September 18th to the end of 2010. Pokemon Black and Pokemon White will be released here in America on March 6th. Do you think it will experience similar success here?

5 million is a lot in the US, but it is insane in Japan considering Japan's lower population.

I think I've said this before, but this franchise has seriously stagnated. And nobody can give the, "Well, It's from Japan" excuse, because I'll bet they're looking at their >20 copies of more or less the same game and wondering why they have them at this point. The sales numbers don't accurately show how exhausted the audience is because Pokemon is ingrained in their culture; they buy it because everyone buys it. Eventually that slow-to-change island will turn on their beloved franchise for the new thing; someone just has to make a similar game. Or, Pokemon could change into something better; maybe with a real plot, maybe with more complex RPG-ness, whatever. Pokemon needs to evolve, so quit holding that Everstone, Nintendo.

I haven't played a pokemon game in forever. I'm surprised it has lasted this long. Oh well I guess somebody has to catch them all. What is the number of pokemon like 300+?

no surprise there... although after Gold and Silver it became really redundant, the story hasn't changed at all

...still boggles the mind why it hasn't lost the charm...

oh well.. let's go Pikachu... use VOLT TACKLE!!!

And I'm still baffled by the success of this franchise. I tried playing one of the supposed better versions of Pokemon before and stopped after only an hour or so. So boring.

It died when they started looking like digimon and yugioh monsters. So it died after Silver/Gold.
