While I hate to be put into the place of selling things to my friends, Xbox Live's referral program might make me change my mind. The just-launched program rewards you for browbeating, smooth-talking and otherwise persuading your friends or acquaintances to go from Silver accounts to Gold ones. Here's how it works:
If you're an Xbox Live Gold member, and you refer a friend, by gamertag at this site, and he/she signs up for something, you can choose one of four rewards:
- Get your free member friend to go Gold and (1) you and your friend will each get 400 Microsoft Points* or (2) 600 Microsoft Points*, depending on the active offer.
- Get your free member friend to go Gold and (3) you and your friend will get a multiplayer Xbox Live Arcade game of Microsoft's choosing.
- Get your free member friend to try Gold with a promotional token good for 1 month of Gold, and (4) if your friend redeems the token within 30 days, you'll get 200 Microsoft Points*.
You're allowed to recruit up to five Xbox Live friends per day, until the promotion's expires on July 1st, giving you 166 days in which you could potentially have 830 friends upgrade to Gold. Sadly, you're only eligible to receive all four rewards once during the promotion period.
Visit the official site for rules and further details.

So what do I get for all the friends I convinced to start using XBL in 2003?

Every one I know already has a gold subscription but I do have to say I have already received Microsoft points from Xbox Rewards. Some points were for some survey and some points for renewing my gold subscription when it ran out. I was surprised to see the extra points when I signed in and used the points to buy some add on content. I wasn't that excited when I heard about the rewards program I thought I would have to wait ages before I accumulated enough points to buy anything. Rewards is actually pretty cool.

Too bad the majority of my friend already have gold...
Natedizzy
Thats awsome but all my friends have gold accounts anyway.

I believe the legal terminology for this action, may be defined in a Court of Law as " Pyramiding ".

Sounds good but with my luck I would get an arcade game of MS's choosing and thats happened to me a couple other times and each time I already owned the game and they were like oh well. Plus when MS's says theire giving away points, it takes them 2-3 times longer than they say. So, I get a couple friends to upgrade and I get $7.50 in points in a few months. I'd rater not pressure my friends; if they haven't upgraded by now theres probably a good reason.

I don't mind you picking on my son because he's off his medication and has completely lost it. I will admit that he was a mistake but please don't drag me into this.

if you switch a PS3 user to an XBL user, DPSx7's mom gets a night off from the street. Since that wont happen, she will keep working. Btw, this referral program is garbage.

ur point everybody was making gaming consoles so microsoft did it and again... just like their computers it still stinks with very old tech

My eyes must be failing me, for a moment I thought I saw a post suggest that XBL, a multi billion dollar component of MS and the whole reason that Sony followed suit added a premium service, was not selling well.

Either this thread is full of little kids, poor kids or trolls. Either way Xbox Live is doing better than PSN. PSN is free and still has less people online than Xbox. ROFL That's a fail. 4 years and still behind 360 in overall sales. ROFL Sony is a fail like the kids complaining about $60. HAHAHAH Get a job little kids and you'll see $60 isn't that much to pay for a better service than FailStation Network which wen't down for MW2 launch, stole Microsofts Achievement for something as stupid as a trophy. I don't even care to get trophies, it's not like an achievement. You actually get points for it.

lmao I think it's funny they're using a pyramid scheme style to advertise xbox live gold.
Chipsthe1st
Doesn't convince me to fork over 60 dollars now.
PLUS, I would have 75 percent of my "friends" on Facebook trying to get me to do all of these things. Effin posers :/

Here goes DPsx7 again with his blah blah blah hate hate hate.
Angelicsin87
Instead of me telling them to go gold i'll just tell them that PS3's multiplayer is free. I have both and trust me when I say this
PS3 > 360

@ImpurestCrowd You get 1 free troll clap. It's kind of like a golf clap but it's made just for internet wizards such as yourself.
