The upcoming 2012 Spider-Man reboot film still may not even have a title, but Sony Pictures has nevertheless revealed the first look at star Andrew Garfield in his new wall-crawling pajamas! For this film, whose mere existence has been a heated point of debate among fans after plans for Sam Raimi's fourth Spider-Man effort fell through, the question of how director Marc Webb would distinguish this film may have gotten its first clue with the new image. Would the (500) Days of Summer director take Spidey on a self-fascinated, hipster-ish, emo romp in the Big Apple? Or an intense, over-the-top, gritty rollercoaster of triumph and tragedy? Well, not to say that one picture answers all of that, but it certainly makes a statement about where this film may be heading. Click the read more to see the new Spidey in all his glory.

Spidey's clearly beaten to hell, here. There's sort of a serpentine quality to this version of the costume, and with Garfield's arms looking long, it's also alien-like. In fact, it sort of reminds me of the pics of Tomar-Re from Green Lantern.
What do you guys think?

I agree with boner jam i will reserve judgement till i see footage of the film. but it looks to me that they might be going toward a more gritty super hero movie like Kick A**

Spidey is supposed to be somewhat thin and wirey compared to the hulking superbeings that inhabit the Marvel Universe but, sadly, this kid is just too scrawny.Unless they plan to digitally bulk him up in some way as Tobey MacQuire did with half a year of working out then this is not going to carry any of the degree of faithful following it will need to appeal to the real Spidey fans out there.
Emaciated, emo hipsters are not superheroes and never will be no matter what some marketing bozo wants.
As much as I would love this film to have the potential to succeed it has a whole lot of fail just in this single image.

I like... very Ultimate Spiderman.

I actually like the suit and look forward to seeing what the kid brings to the table. Now if he starts sparkling then it's the Twilight fans fault but I am not worried about it yet still a long ways a way.

only problem i have is with the spider logo on his chest, the last pair of legs are a bit too long for my liking but idc that much as long as the movie is anywhere as good as the first 2 spidie movies

It looks fine to me. I'm not on the hate bandwagon that so many have already jumped on for whatever reason. I liked the original two films(not the 3rd) but I was never a fan of the cast, so far this one seems to have a better cast. Still I'll wait for the trailers before I make a decision on this one.

@TKEmysterio, last I heard Rhys Ifans was playing The Lizard in the movie. The claw marks might be from him.

Who's the villain in this one? Just wondering why there's 3 claw marks on his chest.

Looks lame.. count me out!

The suit looks fine. My problem is that they are clearly going after the Twilight tween crowd with that skinny little emo kid pretending to be Spider-Man. Should be called Spider-Boy.

Suit looks better here than in the other movies. Looks real instead of all plasticy

It looks like basketball skin to me. Could have been worse.
