The upcoming 2012 Spider-Man reboot film still may not even have a title, but Sony Pictures has nevertheless revealed the first look at star Andrew Garfield in his new wall-crawling pajamas! For this film, whose mere existence has been a heated point of debate among fans after plans for Sam Raimi's fourth Spider-Man effort fell through, the question of how director Marc Webb would distinguish this film may have gotten its first clue with the new image. Would the (500) Days of Summer director take Spidey on a self-fascinated, hipster-ish, emo romp in the Big Apple? Or an intense, over-the-top, gritty rollercoaster of triumph and tragedy? Well, not to say that one picture answers all of that, but it certainly makes a statement about where this film may be heading. Click the read more to see the new Spidey in all his glory.

Spidey's clearly beaten to hell, here. There's sort of a serpentine quality to this version of the costume, and with Garfield's arms looking long, it's also alien-like. In fact, it sort of reminds me of the pics of Tomar-Re from Green Lantern.
What do you guys think?

I like all the details done to his hands and forearms. However, i do not like the fact that the red part of his suit that goes around his waist is not there. I think thats whats making him look thinner then usual. Overall i like the more gritty look, the bold simple suits from comic books do not transfer over well to real life in many cases. I am all for the new cast. I never liked the old cast anyway. Just please do not make the vulture's old ass the villain. Go for the Lizard. Why are so many people afraid of change and different artistic styles. I for one will be seeing this movie. I still wanna see a remake of The Gyver, it has so much potential.

They better have better zippy one liners in this or I am not even bothering.
BATMAN 4EVER
Looks like the emo version of spiderman

Well, it is just one picture and I'm sure they're saving all of the most incredible captures for a time closer to release to help hike the sales.
...plus they might have figured that once the switch was known of, many fans would erupt in objection and what better pose would there be to win them over than the typical head-down? He's sorry. Really, he is. :}

My biggest problem is this is the first photo and we see him unmasked, one big problems with the first three movies is Spidey got unmasked too many times but the original costume was GOOD this looks fake. I know Parker is a nerd but the Spider bite made him stronger and faster,One good thing Meguire did was he worked out for the role to make it like the Spider-Man Character...here it looks no effort is made
JustTheBeginning
I think his body build is fine but the suit is way too shinny, it looks like it is made out of plastic instead of fabric.

stop hating when you have no idea how this is going to turn out.

i dont really understand why people assume hes gonna be emo from one picture. honestly i think it looks pretty good ,like poster said it looks to be leaning more towards Ultimate Spiderman. plus there are many scenes from spidey comics that look alot like this image

I admit that I never liked Tobey voice and his wisecracks weren't that good, but I enjoyed the first two Spider-man films and hate that they're making a reboot! Sam Raimi, why didn't you realize how you were screwing up the story of Spider-man 3?! He should've gotten rid of the dance # and realized that he had two films! The first to introduce the black costume and the last to bring on Venom. *sigh* What could have been.

i think garfield looks great as peter,(yes better than tobey) but im not digging the suit. i know they want it to seem like someting a high-schooler can make. but im just not liking it at all.

There seems to be a trend towards giving superhero costumes a unique texture. I blame the High-Definition!

Way to skinny to be spider-man we all know hes a nerd but still as soon as he got bit he was like somewhat built, hes just like the venom in spider-man 3 some skinny ass nerd when the real Eddie brock worked out all the time.
bandman8
Honestly Tobey was the right guy for Peter Parker/Spider-man, at least for this generation. I dont really care for the costume either and I will probably wait for reviews and a few weeks in the theatres

I remember people thinking that the Batman reboot was going to be lame too. And look at what happened with that? Can't pass judgement until I see the movie based on a measly screenshot of the actor in a suit.
Wrestlingrey
He is definetely too skinny and whimpy looking. Probably another Superman Returns Film in which had very low ratings..

Peter parker is suppose to look dorky. That's the foundation on which the charcter is built upon. Ego is kinda the same thing as dorky right? Or close enough so that people can get the feel of who peter parker is. If the want to kinda put the twilight spin on it that's fine cause it ain't as bad as all the copycats on the bandwagon, as mentioned earlier, say it is. Plus producers are trying yo make money as well as try to satisfy the long time fans of comic books and I feel that (by only having one picture yo go and make a conclusion on) this idea, at the very least, has got good potential to be a satisfying movie and a good money maker. I don't expect the nonwducated to read this long ass post but at least those of you who can read can realize a different viewpoint then what's been mentioned here so far. Excelsior Y'all!
