Much to the dismay of PlayStation 3 Ethernet ports everywhere, Sony has revealed that the PlayStation Network version (as well as the disc installation file) of Mass Effect 2 will weigh in at “around 12GB.”
BioWare confirmed yesterday that the incoming PS3 edition of its acclaimed space opera will be available via download on PSN as well as at retail when it releases next week. The good news for PS3 owners is that by the time the game installs and you finish playing, it should be about time for the release of Mass Effect 3. Sweet deal! (I kid. I kid.)
In case you haven't seen the launch trailer, here it is again, because it's perty:

I think this DP kid needs to have his account deleted. I went to his account to send him a message politely and saw a large amount of troll comments that will not help any single person move forward with anything that they would be trying to accomplish by visiting this website.

Aww, CRUD!!! It took 6 hours to download 4 gbs, I only have a 15gbs connection!!! BUMMER!!! (If I wanted to wait a week I would, but I have a 15gb brandwith limit and I have already been playing GTA4 online) :( Oh well, BLU-RAY FOR ME!!!

Somehow I sort of thought the downloaded version would be around because if you installed the game on your 360, it's around 12GB too.
PS - Sorry if this is a repeat of what another poster had. I haven't checked out The Feed since 10 AM yesterday. :)

DPsx7 you can't get much more out of $60 then this game. Its got great reviews from a lot of video game sites. It also sold 2 millon the first week. I say thats a win.

first and foremost..forgive me im a bit of a noob when it comes to this... but could someone clear this up for me... if i decide to download it via psn, it will take up 12GB of my ps3, and when i choose to get the disc, it will also take 12GB of space on my ps3 when i install it?? hmm.. so does this mean that the real problem is the download time itself??
thanks to those who answers...

my 500 gig ps3 says bring it on!!!

It's worth all the space is takes...also shut up DPsx7. If you had actually played this game, which you haven't, you would know that this is one of the best series released on the current gen systems.

I'd much rather have the disc. Wasting an inch long space in my giant DVD cabinet is much better than using up 12 GB of space. I'm curious to see how the digital download sells though.

Thank God my old 40GB PS3 took a crap. Now that I've upgraded to a slim I'll have plenty of space :)!

I read someone's comment and now I'm really torn between which ME is better 1 or 2?? 1 contained much more rpg elements, you could use more than one power at a time(but longer cooldown) and I think the story was much more desperate and the ending was. OMG That ending got you pumped for the end battle.
I don't really know why people say you care about your characters more in 2 because, to me, it was like you acquire them, do their loyalty mission and thats the most dialogue you get out of them. They don't talk on missions, but I did feel for them on loyalties.
I didn't mind scanning or the mako (hint-listen to music). Besides the graphic upgrade 2 didn't Blow me away MORE than 1. I guess that original experience was sort of like seeing star wars when it was first released even though I'm only 17. Guess I should take this to a forum ty for reading

Well, it's a good thing I've got a PS3 with a 320 GB hard drive and plenty of space on it, so I really don't have to worry about it.

Look at the morons interested in a 'space opera'. How lame is that. It's an RPG and unwanted on PS3. Vote me down if you must but the fact is true. We PS3 owners have many better games than this.

How is this a surprise? or news at all? Thats how much it was for the 2 disc version on th 360 if you decided to install both..

Unless the download is significantly cheaper, I'll just go to gamestop and get it the old fashioned way.

That's what it was on the PC. If you don't like it, you can always get a bigger HDD. Oh wait...

Well that will take about a day or two! I swear that PSN downloads and updates take forever compared to xbox. I decided to visit Home again after many months to see if it started being worthwhile to me (it wasn't) and it took me almost an hour after a couple of updates/etc (i won't go into the long load times between locations in Home). Sony needs to invest in some M$ compression tools.... (btw i have business class internet and the xbox updates very quickly off the same hub - so its not my connection).

why does the ps3 handle files the way it does??? WTFunk
freelancer799
The ME2 install files for pc was 12gb also, this is no surprise that the ps3 version is as well. why is everyone freaking out about such a simple install. Come find me when you have enough games to fill up 600 gb harddrives due to owning so many on steam then I'll listen to your concerns otherwise, get over it
