Activision today announced that developer Beenox will be in charge of future Spider-Man games. After the fantastic job the company did on Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, it makes sense that future Spider-Man titles would come from the company.
“We are thrilled with this opportunity to continue our close, collaborative relationship with Activision, Marvel and everyone’s friendly, neighborhood hero, Spider-Man,” said Dee Brown, Studio Head, Beenox. “Being able to map out Spider-Man’s interactive future gives us the creative freedom to really craft the best gaming experience for the fans.”
Sadly, there was no information given as to what the next Spidey game might be about, so it's time for speculation: What would you like to see in a new Spiderman game?

What's going on? Doesn't anybody like webslinging? Isn't that one of the things that makes Spiderman different from other characters? And, isn't it the only experience of it's kind in video games? The diversity and freedom of having an endless supply of webs in an open-world city is one of the most pure forms of videogaming I have ever seen, and I am SUPREMELY dissapointed that not many other people seem to agree. If Spiderman games continue the on the path that Beenox is taking them, we will lose one of the greatest experiences videogames has ever offered us, and WE will be the only ones to blame. Go play Web of Shadows again, please. Don't fight, don't do missions, don't complete the game. Just swing. Please, just swing. Experience the feeling of soaring through the air again, then come back and tell me that's NOT the right direction for a Spiderman game...

Honestly, nothing would make me happier than them taking Spider-Man 2, updating the graphics to today's standard, taking out those useless tasks and calling it good. I don't need new enemies or a new plotline if they promise to just make a good game. I can't think of a Spider-Man game since SM2 that I actually enjoyed to completion, with the possible exception of Ultimate Spider-Man, if that came after SM2 (I honestly don't remember).
I wish developers would realize that it isn't necessary to over-complicate a game to make it "good".

Eh.. I was given Shattered Dimensions for Xmas and I can't get past training because I have to push buttons 15 times for it to register once. That shouldn't happen, I have a 2010 quad-core HP Elite, straight from the box, 3yr. warranty... I can run Unreal 3 or DCUO smooth as silk on the highest graphics settings. I don't like the camera positioning in Shattered Dimensions either, it seems too restricted, and the cartoony aspect kind of fits the content, but I'd still rather see something more realistic.

Make a House of M videogame. That would be pretty good.

I'd like to see them make a sweet open-world spider-man like the one in Spider-man 2 (honestly the swing mechanics in that game still hold up extremely well today) perhaps make it like a sequel to shattered dimensions but instead you can swap dimensions at will, allowing different parts of the world to be accessible in different ways depending on which dimension your in (sort of like when in kirby super star where one of the planets in the last game mode had seasons where entering doors could change the season allowing hidden areas and secrets to be unlocked based on which season it was...) if they did it right it could easily be one of the best games of the year...

Shatter Dimensions was pretty good. Its just too bad they'll be pushed like every other Activision developer to churn out sequel after sequel until they ruin the franchise and history will just repeat itself.

Unfortunately, it's going to be a movie tie-in game. :(

i enjoyed shattered deimensions. not enough to buy it. what i miss is that little rush i get swinging through the city real fast and just feeling like spiderman like in web of shadows which was another spiderman game i enjoyed.

I loved their last two games.

enjoyed Shattered Dimensions a lot.

I actually liked Dimensions. I think these guys deserve to make a couple more games in hopes of improvements. I liked the old school A to B level design. Game wasn't "amazing" but I liked the game-play variations and NPH as Spidey. Rented of course tho. Perfect Renter.

fantastic by the standards of thumbless alien monkeys. that game sucked. traded it after a week of hoping the next level will be better. never happened.

One of the most underrated games of 2010, really glad to hear they'll be making more.

Did they say Fantastic job they did on Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions. I DONT know a single soul that bought this game and every copy I have ever seen in stores is STILL sitting on the shelf collecting dust. Did anyone even play this game? The reviews were horrible.
