Several pieces of concept art for Midway’s abandoned supernatural action title Hero have popped up online over the past week, and while some of the previous screens were impressive, the latest batch uncovered by Silicon Era are just upsetting; Irrational Games' Monster Island, and Steven Spielberg's LMNO kind of upsetting.
Based on what little info we have about the game, Hero was evidently supposed to be something akin to the NBC series Heroes (Get it?! His name is Hiro AND he’s a hero!) with a cast of superpowered characters who must battle to save the world or coordinating bingo nights at local retirement homes, whichever is more physically and mentally demanding.
Based on these shots, the game looks strikingly similar to Sucker Punch’s inFamous series, which is doubly interesting when you consider it was in development at the same time as the first inFamous. Although, all of this is irrelevant at this point, since the game has been dead for a couple years, but it’s still fun/depressing to think of what it could have been.
Here are a couple choice shots:

We need more super hero games out nowadays... and not games where the heroes are already established, we want new heroes.

A few screenshots should not depress me as much as these do right now.
I mean, having a swordfight on the wing of a falling 747. That's the kind of stuff I dream about IN MY DREAMS.

This is sad, but at least gamers are smart enough not to fall for empty promises. I kind of don't want to hear about a game until it is 2 weeks away from release and even then I dont need the over exposure that usually follows a games release.

Seeing all these canceled games is very Depressing.

Just another disappointment to add the the publisher who never followed up with a Psi-Ops 2.

Agreed, these artists are not obviously considering gameplay limitations when they are drawling theses. Sucker Punch is a top tier developer and it still took them 3 years to make infamous which released with many technical flaws. If sucker punch had trouble with only had one super hero to make, just imagine how hard it would be to make a game with a whole team, each with different powers to make... too ambitious for a lower tier developer.

This looks pretty badass... but yes, they would have found a way to ruin this game.

Looking at these makes me think what could have been, and it would have been nothing like this.
