Cheats and Walkthroughs
We all look back on the video games of our youth with pleasant nostalgia. In fact, some of our favorite games of all time can be over 10 years old. On that note, Adam Sessler was very pleased this week because his favorite game of all time, Ghosts n' Goblins, was released on the Wii Virtual Console. In this week's Soapbox you'll get a unique window into the gaming origins of Adam Sessler as he tells you the story of how that crushingly hard but masterfully crafted arcade game shaped his love for gaming, creating the man you see before you. Press play and find out how it all began. What's your favorite game of all time?

Excellent video.
I remember beating my older brother in "mortal kombat" for the first time. It was the greatest day of my life because I had finally defeated him at something. His reign of terror was over.

I kept getting distracted by the fail happening over Adam's right shoulder. Then the guy finally made progress and The Ses was finished talking.

Illusion of Gaia, the first video game I remember watching my parents play, and then having my Mom read the text to me because I was so young I still couldn't read well enough to play on my own, while I played it. Over Christmas vacation I found our old SNES and Illusion of Gaia, still my favorite game of all time.
Thanks again for another awesome Soapbox!!

I wasn't a little more than 6yrs. old when Christmas 1988 opened my eyes to the wonderful world that is video gaming. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't my first rodeo with games, but it was my first memorable experience. We had Atari and ColecoVision but that was last gen, my parents played that stuff.
When I opened my presents and found that Santa had given me a NES, gold foiled Zelda cartridge, Mario w/Duckhunt and the light gun, and two controllers, and a new TV. I'm lucky I didn't have a gamer-stroke.
Zelda was the first game that I played and beat. It took some coaching from my older cousin, who at the time I found to be almost godlike in his gaming skill. But I did beat it that winter, and in some ways it changed my life forever.
This is more like a review than a favorite pick. But just like a review, a single aspect of a game cannot justify the overall score. In my case it was the game+age+that place in time+who I played it with = MY FAVORITE GAME OF ALL TIME.
Today the Mass Effect series, Fallout series, Assasins Creed series, Halo series, Gears series, are on par with Zelda. But I'm not 6yrs. old anymore, and the magic while still there, cannot compare to Christmas 1988.

first off, my first gaming experience was on atari 2600. adventure owned my soul at three years old. secondly, i had the same experience adam had but it was on the snes. when that damn game said you have to go thru it all over again i almost cried. i then went straight to the market and looked it up in tips and tricks magazine to level select. beat it, and never played it again.

Final Fantasy 7 is the game that got we hooked on gaming. I remember seeing Cloud's big ass sword on the cover and saying I must play this. JRPG's are kind of boring now, so I play games like Uncharted and Devil May Cry.

Great soapbox Sessler.
The Genesis version was very much like that for me. I also had to enlist the aid of my little brother to tag our way through it in one night. Neither of us cried when we got to the 'end' though lol, i think cuz we were a lil older, than your description makes you sound.
My brother was more pissed than i was, just like yours. But i didnt really care. I knew i had just beaten the damn game once, so i knew i could do it again.
Gotta love nostalgia. Besides i look best in rose-tinted glasses.

Thanks for sharing Adam.

Super Mario 64 is definitely my favorite game of all time. I can remember playing it in the winter time. Video games + winter time = best combo of reasons to stay indoors.

I miss the sweet metallic smell of BART trains. They have an interesting and oddly comforting aroma.
