E-sports leader Evolution Championship Series (EVO) announced today it has secured a new partnership with other tournament organizers to create a yearlong tournament season for 2011.
The season begins January 14 with the West Coast Warzone in Orange, California and will run through to the EVO World Finals in Las Vegas on July 29-31. Participants will earn “ranking points” at each tournament, and those points (64 for first, 32 for second, 16 for third, etc.) will be used to determine seeds at the World Finals.
For those tournament-caliber fighting game players out there, here are the dates for this year’s EVO season:
- 1/14/2011 - West Coast Warzone, Orange, CA
- 2/26/2011 - GVN Winter Brawl, Philidelphia, PA
- 3/11/2011 - Final Round XIV, Atlanta GA
- 4/29/2011 - PowerUp 2011, Cincinnati, OH
- 5/27/2011 - Ultimate Fighting Game Tournament, Chicago, IL
- 5/2011 (exact date TBA) - OzHadou Nationals 9 (OHN9), Sydney, Australia

- 6/10/2011 - CEO 2011 Championship, Orlando, FL

Anyone plan to compete in any of these tournaments? Has anyone participated in any EVO tournaments in the past?

I'm hoping to attend Final Round in March to hand out some free wins in Super Street Fighter IV and Marvel vs Capcom 3. If I do make it, it will be my first EVO-related event.
