Super Street Fighter IV

If your fighting game avatar requires the latest fashions, your best bet is playing Super Street Fighter 4 on the Xbox 360 not the PlayStation 3. DLC clothing purchased for the PlayStation 3 version of the game won't appear to opponents online unless they, too, have purchased the same outfits.

As Capcom explains on its message board:

"The DLC for the newest costumes is additional data that must be put on your machines from the first-party networks (XBL and PSN). When you add new data to an existing product, there are significant costs to do so charged by the first parties. On XBL, those costs were covered by Microsoft. As a result, the data is distributed to everyone, so even if you have not bought the new costumes, you can still see them if you're fighting against someone that has because you still received the new data required to display them. For Sony, those significant costs are not covered. As a result, you only get the new costume data when you actually buy the costumes. Those that don't buy the costumes can't see them, because the new costume data isn't present on your machine."

The company goes on to say:

"The bottom line in this particular case is that Sony would charged Capcom significant fees for distributing the new costume data to users that hadn't actually bought the DLC. Microsoft covered those costs, so the costume data is visible to all there. I wish it were the same all around, but hope this info helps."

Personally, I don't care about costumes for game characters, especially if I have to buy 'em, but I'd think doubly hard if I knew a lot of my opponents would not be intimidated by my sartorial splendor. What about you?

Personally I could care less about anyone's costumes. It's Super Street Fighter 4, NOT Super Runway Fighter 4. lmao Who cares? I mean really?

why would someone buy the costume to show it to people they play online. i would never buy one but i imagine people buy them to look at them THEMSELVES and not for the other people to do so.

"your best bet is playing ...... on the Xbox 360 not the PlayStation 3" We've heard that sooo many times this generation. PS3 is only useful if you want to have a blu-ray player and gaming console in 1, but you really get shafted with the gaming end. Or I guess if you like mediocre shooters like Resistance and Killzone. Oh well at least got what they wanted, to win a media format war. Funny thing is most ppl just use the blu-ray player to stream netflix once they realize they don't have to play over-inflated prices of blu-ray movies.

What is really ridiculous is companies talking about distribution fees when they use the Internet... Really stupid.

With that policies everybody looses. Both companies that see a reduced number of DCL sales due to improper distribution and users that won't feel the need to buy clothes nobody can see...

This is a clear sign of the lack of experience of Sony in the online marketplace arena...

I don't really care because I don't feel like spending extra money on costumes for my characters. It won't make me play any better than I already do so it doesn't affect me. This news should be old though...I've been seeing a pop up in my opponents character that says like "player does not have costume download" or something like that for awhile now. $40 is all I need to play the game and enjoy it.

Well we get things like that and more for paying for xbox live , a common rumor that goes around is that were paying for just being able to play online, we get things like this, exclusive dlc , we get black ops dlc first day, we get many services online as well as daily or weekly things that go on online as well as other things.........Microsoft does that type of stuff is my point, PS3 has alot of things that xbox doesnt but if your truelly a gamer you wouldent worry about paying for xbox live whether it be 20 bucks every 3 months or 50-60 dollars a year or if you have an online cred card thing , paying for it with all those deals like a dollar your first month.

Oh please, Capcom is being cheap. Sony charges $0.16 per gigabyte, I dont know how large this DLC is but I would imagine its less than 50mb? So lets say 1 million download it, that would cost them $7,812.50!! Pretty cheap like if you ask me.

And both those variables are very generous, I do not even think it even sold 1 million copies on the PS3.

Ya you can't really blame Sony for not covering this cost they keep PSN free and they don't have the money Microsoft does because of this. So it makes since I don't buy the virtual clothes anyway so it really doesn't affect me.

I guess if I was to buy a costume I would want everyone to see it and be jealous of my new sexy threads. But I guess as long as they don't pull a castlevania HD and have all the characters in a clunky suit of armor I would be fine.
