Minecraft Sells 500K Copies, Now Has 1.6 Million Users

The 13th Annual Independent Games Festival finalists were announced today. Mojang’s blocky PC phenomenon Minecraft received three nominations (Seumas McNally Grand Prize, Technical Excellence, and Excellence in Design), as did Frictional Games' terrifying horror title Amnesia: The Dark Descent, which was also nominated for the Seumas McNally Grand Prize and for Technical Excellence, in addition to Excellence in Audio.

Some of the other finalists include Marc Ten Bosch’s brain-bending puzzler Miegakure, Supergiant Games’ gorgeous action title Bastion, Chris Hecker’s high-tension espionage thriller SpyParty, and Messhof’s sword fighting side-scroller Nidhogg.
