The Mass Effect 2 demo on the PS3 is available to download on the PlayStation Network and according to BioWare, the PS3 version of Mass Effect 2 will be using the Mass Effect 3 engine to provide a smoother gameplay experience. Is that true? How does the PlayStation 3 version compare to the Xbox 360 version of Mass Effect 2? We put this question to the test to find out the differences and similarities between the demo on both consoles. Check out our Mass Effect 2 PS3 vs Xbox 360 comparison video down below and share your thoughts on the topic. Can you see the Mass Effect 3 engine in action?

My thoughts while I was playing both versions in the comparison video: the PS3 version felt smoother when running through the levels and interacting with different objects. I don't see any major graphical improvements on the PS3 other than slight lighting adjustments. I'm glad PlayStation gamers have a chance to experience a great action RPG game, but hopefully the Mass Effect 3 engine will show it's true potential when Mass Effect 3 comes out later next year.

What do you think?

So after being on the Xbox 360 for 7 months and now on PS3 there's no real graphical difference besides some color boost?! Any fail. Watch, when Mass Effect 3 comes out both the PS3 and Xbox versions will be the same.

Being a PS3 gamer means playing Xbox's old games a year later after they release! Ahahaha, oh well, enjoy it it's a fun game.

I don't see any difference either. I'm glad more gamers will get to experience the Mass Effect games but a part of me still think they should have left it as a X-Box 360 exclusive, I mean do you think Sony would stand silently by and allow the Uncharted games go multi-platform without a fight? I own both systems but I still think Mass Effect should have remained a 360 exclusive.

Truth be told when it boils down to the number of pixels the 360 in hd has more and is slightly better. The only real noticeable difference is that the xbox tends to have darker colors while the ps3 are slighly more vibrant. Thats about it really because graphically they are both almost the same

All I can see is that Shepard seems to have lost a little weight in the PS3 version.

To be honest I have played the demo for the PS3 version the other day and I didnt notice any difference's at all. I have ME2 for 360 and I think it looks exactly the same. Regardless its great that Bioware is bringing ME2 multiplatform, more people will be able to experience one of the greatest games of recent years to come out.

Mass Effect = Xbox 360 as Metal Gear = PS3. They may be cross-platform now but they are still known as their own console.

small difference.. but its there.. atleast i dont have to hear ps3 gamers cry.. cause they want mass effect.. ps3 gamers.. heres a tip.. get it.. might be the best ps3 game out there..( so i dont here complains) i have xbox 360, wii, and ps3 systems/ but i only use ps3 for blueray and uncharted.. cause everything else sucks.. now they copy wii with that move crap/ i use my xbox the most for all my gaming needs.. halo reach.. gears of war 2.. mass effect 1 n 2.. any multiplatform../ and i use my wii for any old skool game.. and anything zelda.. and dont come at me with the rrod bs.. cause ps3 get the ylod.. both my ps3 and xbox messed up twice already.. the only that has'nt is my wii.. cause i hardly use it.. lol

its sorta hard to tell the difference from the two. ps3 clearly has the better lighting effects than the 360. that depends also if you put the brightness setting on darker or brighter. the texture of each character is debatable Jacobs face looks better on ps3 but the 360 Miranda face looks slightly better. i really think its close tie but until the full game comes out on the ps3 you cant really say much from the ps3 demo.

Hhhmmm... on other sites that I've seen a comparison the PS3's copy is superior. I guess it doesnt make sense doing a comparison if the man behind the wheel has a preference then does it? Oh well...despite the attempt at parity the PS3 still looks better. :-)

How come no one ever talks about how when Shepard is in cover the top of his is nicely sticking out?

6 of one or 1/2 dozen of the other, it's all the same, the game does not stop in being amazingly awesome. Can't wait for ME3, are we there yet?
