It's almost time for the world's tight-wearing, cape-sporting, crime-fighting super-freaks to get into their own MMO. DC Universe Online goes live on January 11 in the U.S. Available for both the PC and the PlayStation 3, DC Universe Online will allow players to create their own heroes and take direction from the masters of the DC Universe like Batman, The Joker and Superman.
Along with the usual pay-by-the-month rate, DC Universe Online will also offer players a one-time, play-forever price of $199, so if you know you're going to be playing this one for a year or more, it might be a good idea to pay this small price--imagine how much you would have saved with World of Warcraft if you did that, right?
If you're currently in the beta, an end-of-the-world event is planned for you, so the super-slate will be wiped super-clean, and newbs and leet will meet on an even battlefield when the flip is switched, and DC Universe goes live in January.
I'm looking forward to trying this one out on the PlayStation 3. I don't usually have the time needed to really excel in MMOs, but this one strikes my fancy, if only for the opportunity to create my great, female super-villain, The French Tickler.

I see this Game not Makeing it on the PS3. And the reason Why is the Subscription Fee. Unless your a PlayStation Plus user, PS3 user just wont be use to paying a subscription fee..

I have to say ive been quite impressed with the beta although its been a little too easy. I so far dont see much sustainability in this game. Fun to play but not worth 15/mo.

sweet it comes out on my birthday

To all those complaing about the subscription fees, most MMO's have them. And those that don't get you with microtransactions. Even those with subscription fees have those types of transactions. Its the nature of the beast. Gotta pay for those servers and updates and new content somehow.

Can you guys stop talking about price points and betas and try to focus on the fact that as the screenshot proves, you will be able to play as Carrie Keagan's SUPERGIRL!
THAT IS AWESOME!
You will have the power to maybe make your hair grow and other amazing powers too!
Awesome.

where are you people getting that the 199 lifetime is pc only?
gambit1023
I agree with alot of people here...it's a ripoff that you pay 60.00 for a game and then have to shell out a subscription fee just to play it. I have been waiting for this game to come out for 3+ years and now will definetely not get it because of the subscription fee. The whole reason I bought a PS3 in the first place was cuz I refused to pay microsoft a fee to get online access in the first place.

so the 199 lifetime subscription is for pc only....I'm genuinely upset by this. really played MMOs before this except for the WoW trial. Due to my right wrist being a bit not normal, anything pc I really only use my left hand. Games on pc and me don't match. pc lifetime sub would so save me money, but that's not coming to the ps3 version. Well, at least we all get the 1st 30 days free
jungan
Gah! I'm going to wait for the Old Republic before I commit on a MMO.
silent_jedi
yeah I am with cmdluke and completist the only new MMO to come out that I would be willing to pay 200 bucks for a life time membership would be The Old Republic. I know I will be getting my playtime out of that game for the money.

so i am bummed out...... in the back of my mind i always knew there was going to be a sub to this game. its not up to par with the rest of of the mmorpg tho. ive played the beta and the whole time i kept thinking "almost got it" this game offers a great hope to what console mmos could be like but like most people"not all" the 14.99 a month ontop a 60 purchase price in the midst of such a f2p mmo comunity of gaming seems to be very bad timing for this game to take root with a greater percntage of the psn and pc video gamers. i am sure the enthusists will take what they can get anr run with it but i wonder what the profit projections are for this breakout console mmo?

You have to pay to play a game that you've already paid for????? I'm glad I never got into MMO's. What a penny-pinching rip-off!!!!!!!
Tylerr
So the one time 199 price won't include microtransations will it?
gamermoney
Although this beta was quite the download, it was surely worth it. quite addicting. Heroes suck. It's the bad guys who rule the school. yea I'm a villian if you hadn't guessed already. Can't wait for the full game to decimate the all that is good

@ cmdluke
I know what you mean. :(

the only game I might consider the $199 lifetime subscription option would be for The Old Republic. but I doubt they'll have that option.
