Over 1 Million More People Playing Call of Duty: Black Ops On 360 Than PS3

On his podcast over the weekend, Xbox Live boss Major Nelso revealed the details on the "First Strike" map pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops. The DLC will be coming out on February 1 for the 360, and later for the PlayStation 3 and PC.

First Strike will contain four competitive maps and a zombie map:

  • "Discovery," Takes place in Antarctica. Brrrr.
  • "Kowloon" set in Kowloon, on rooftops;
  • "Berlin Wall" Checkpoint Charlie action.
  • "Stadium," A hockey rink in the U.S.
  • "Ascension." (The co-op zombie mode map.)

The DLC will cost ya 1200 Microsoft Points ($15).

So what do you guys think? Is this worth it? Are you going to be downloading these maps in the new year?

I hate the price but i'll probably get it once the new maps are integrated into the playlists so im not constantly kicked from lobbies.

    Blame Kotick.

To everyone that says they wont get it, you will eventually. I Have said that but I know eventually I'm gonna give in and buy them just like everyone else. Because you're either gonna get bored of the current maps or your gonna be talked into it by your friends.

I'd personally prefer them to fix the numerous bugs, especially the match making and connections issues first. Worry about the maps when I can actually party with my friends and get in a game with them.

Most of you sound like cheep bastards. if you didn't plan on playing everyday and buying the map packs then you shouldn't have gotten the game. get a gamefly account and shut up. Some of you will pay 15 bucks for a bad music or clothes but not for hours of proven entertainment. Go play final fantasy 13. that's on both platforms too. (smi1ey2d3d)

I'm sorry but timed exclusive content for multiplatform video games is justplain annoying. If they want PS3 and XBox360 money, then they should offer the same amount of content for both at the same time.

People are seriously complaining about the price again. Treyarch is offering 4 new maps and a zombie map for the same price IW offered 2 old maps and 2 new maps. Also if someone thinks $15 is worth it to them then it is worth it, just because you don't think the price is worth it doesn't mean everyone has to agree with you. I'll pick it up but mostly for the zombie map, which I hope stars JFK and that crew since they're a lot funnier than the other group, IMO.

I'm avoiding map packs from now on. It seems as if the best players like to buy them so the disparity of skill level between players is always greater with those who buy the packs and those who don't. I bought a MW2 map pack and performed horribly after I installed it (a lot had to do with cheaters). The skill level of the players I played with was just too great for my casual game play (sorry, I have a day job). If anything though, map packs do a good job segmenting the types of players, casual and hard core. It'll be welcome in my opinion, not because I've been waiting for fresh maps, but rather because I'm ready to weed out the better players.

PS, $15 for maps is still too much!

I blame Bobby Kotick for the price point on this. Honestly, I'm only going to get it if all my other friends get it. I don't want to be the "one guy in the party who doesn't have it".

I support a boycott of all DLCs that seems planned strictly for profit and not on players demand to expand the experience. These maps were clearly planned to be released as DLC while the game was still in early production, which is ridiculous because it should have been released with the game. DLCs are supposed to be a F'ing afterthought.

It's only like 3 something dollars a map or something. To that guy at the top, $6 a map is pretty pricey when you're paying less than 5 or each map on the list there. I'll be getting this totally and the rooftop and ice rink sounds alot of fun lol

everyone says "i'm not buying this map pack, it's too expensive!" yet when it releases, they'll be playing it instantly..they're not gonna lower the price by commenting on this article...just don't buy the maps

Two of them are in the campaign, which means that they were withheld from the disc-copy. This is the worst policy for developers ever, so it comes to no surprise that Activision loves it.

What makes them think, "Hey, we've got good profit margin on DLC, we should put even less work into it by REMOVING parts of our game"? I'm no longer encouraging this BS.

The DLC is expensive, but a lot more work has gone into it than the DLC for MW2. Just the presence of a new zombie map shows that Treyarch is dedicated to putting as much value into their software as they can.

I'm pretty sure it's a lot harder to build and balance a zombie map than it is to reskin two maps from previous games and pretend they're new.

I wish they would sell the zombie map separate because I don't play the zombie mode. I doubt I buy this anyway since COD has gotten stale. If I want to play on other COD maps I will just go back and play COD4, COD WaW, or MW2. I Honestly think I will be sticking to BC2 and BC2 Vietnam for awhile anyway.

I'm glad I turned my back on the CoD muli-player back in CoD4. $15 for maps is stupid.
