On his podcast over the weekend, Xbox Live boss Major Nelso revealed the details on the "First Strike" map pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops. The DLC will be coming out on February 1 for the 360, and later for the PlayStation 3 and PC.
First Strike will contain four competitive maps and a zombie map:
- "Discovery," Takes place in Antarctica. Brrrr.
- "Kowloon" set in Kowloon, on rooftops;
- "Berlin Wall" Checkpoint Charlie action.
- "Stadium," A hockey rink in the U.S.
- "Ascension." (The co-op zombie mode map.)
The DLC will cost ya 1200 Microsoft Points ($15).
So what do you guys think? Is this worth it? Are you going to be downloading these maps in the new year?

ug i was hoping that treyarc wouldn't try to milk us for $15 like infinity ward. I'l see what other people think of it but 15 bucks in my opinion is too much

No way I'm buying the DLC. I'm done with Treyarch. They're a bunch of XBox 360 fanboys. They have inferior multiplayer support for PS3 because of their love affair for the 360. I've had enough of Activision too. All COD DLC to release on 360 a month or so ahead of other platforms? They can take their map packs for this terrible game and go ---- themselves.

Honestly, I am happy that they are adding what they are. I mean, Kowloon in the campaign was fun, the Arctic level was intense, and they are adding ANOTHER Zombies map.
All in All, I think its a good price. I just hope more Zombies stuff comes out.

Will I buy this? Maybe.
Is it worth it? Absolutely not.
The hardest part of making a game isn't after market map design. At this point the game is done, everything is working fine. Charging 60 for the game I understand. You have to write it, test it, design everything, etc etc etc. There is a lot that has to be done for the actual game.
For a map pack though?

It would be like paying 8000 for a car and then having to pay 2000 every time you want some new floormats.
Idiotic.
I am sure their marketing department knows more than me, but it seems like if you sold the map for half price, you would get a lot more people downloading it, make a lot more people happy, and have a much easier time convincing people to buy your next map pack.
Will 15 dollars kill me, no. But as someone that loves the Call of Duty series it would be nice to feel like someone in charge actually cares about the crap they are selling.

Serious guys, For all of you who actually complain about $15's being to much. Let me think of how to put it. Buy fast food 3 times ( value meals cost around $5-$6's each ) that you can enjoy for about 20 minutes each or buy 4+1 maps for a game you may extend in enjoyment of a game in multiple hours and or even days of game play. I personally will agree black-ops has its issues, but i for one will be picking these up.

i understand it take money to release these to the gaming community but dam i bought all of the map packs from cod5 and i get nothing in return. i swear if they have a map pack with cod5 maps that are "refirbished" then i better get them for free. i paid alot of money for the maps in cod5 so id better get them for free

Ill wait to buy this if it goes on sale, $15 is just way too much to spend on maps ill realistically only play for a few days. Do i really want to spend that money only to listen to some person trash talk the whole time because i don't spend my whole life dedicated to this one game?

First off, $15 is way to much to pay for, more so since there was so many issues with the game in the first place, and still is. Second, they should do something like for the people who did preorder the game, give it to them for free since all you got was a crappy poster (if there was even any at the store) and make it cheaper for everyone else. I do love the game, but there is still way to many server issues and glitches for them to worry about maps. It really should be free for all the inconvenience that the glitches and issues are giving everyone. And I still think there should be something for people who did preorder the game.

ok treyarch is releasing a map pack instead of fixing a broken game/too many bugs from the start wheres the patches for spawn traps,laggy servers still,the knife,and knifing through walls

Hold on wait a min. We get 4 new map and 1 zombie map, ok that's cool in all but what about the other zombie maps. Their are tons of people that don't have those maps and I am one of them. Why not just throw them in there to. Now that would be one hell of a deal.
