Our Five Favorite Games of 2010: Moye Ishimoto

Moye Ishimoto is the Internet Content Specialist for Attack of the Show! and when she isn't busy being a hilarious blogger or finding new doughnuts to conquer, she's playing video games and telling us how much she rules.

God of War 3

I don’t care what you think. This is the first game after Halo 3 that I’ve actually missed playing because it was so over the top, from the dramatic, borderline emo storyline, the graphics, the weapons and the random smashing of clay jars. Everyone has that super angry bald guy hiding inside of them, waiting to get out and express their anguish and torture through ridiculous violence and Kratos allowed me to do just that. I miss you, Kratos. Please come back. But not on the PlayStation Move. That would just be … dumb.

QRANK

Everyone’s addicted to Words with Friends on their iPhone, but I’m all about QRANK with their daily trivia game that ranks your score among your Facebook and Twitter friends. I usually hate trivia but QRANK makes using your brain a fun activity -- plus, you can win special awards based on how well you do and what state you’re playing in. Was my last trip across the continent partially inspired by the need to win these achievements? Maybe.

Rock Band 3

Any game that allows me to put those six years of piano lessons to good use wins a huge award in my book. Not only do I make my Asian parents happy at an age where SAT scores don’t matter anymore, but I also have a newfound respect for the often overlooked keyboard player in all those bands from the 70’s and 80’s. Haters can pry my RB3 keyboard from my cold, dead hands!

Halo: Reach

There’s only one other video game character I love more than Kratos, and that’s Master Chief. And he’s finally back! Kinda. For like six seconds in the very last scene or something. I don’t know. I didn’t even notice. I was too busy getting killed. But I’m always happy to dive back into the Halo universe, from the new campaign (OMG I totally teared up at the end. SO SAD!!!!!) and the fun multiplayer maps.

Costume Quest

Though Costume Quest was a little repetitive, this DLC was a true delight to play. Double Fine continues to prove that clever writing and creative art design is enough to make a great game. Reading the dialogue always led to laughs and though I was never a fan of turn-based strategy games, being able to go trick-or-treating for candy while fighting goblins is always a fun trip.
