In the end, Blizzard’s strategy masterpiece managed to out maneuver Mass Effect 2, BioWare’s brilliant RPG and X-Play’s pick for Game of the Year, in a sci-fi-themed battle of epic proportions (at least as far as random video game popularity contests go). The final tally had SC2 on top with 55 percent of the vote. Close, eh?
StarCraft 2 managed to best some pretty formidable foes on its path to victory. Halo: Reach, Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, Limbo, and Deathspank all found themselves no match for SC2’s legions of loyal and dedicated fans.

Did not expect SCII to win, shocking...
Welp, can't say I am happy, sad or mad with the results, just that I am ok with the results, besides, most the the games I wanted to win got eliminated half way through this Deathmatch so...

Reading these comments make me facepalm.
First, SCII, Gratz, i love SCII. Period. It is a great game. Sure, its story isn't exactly the best in the world, but i doubt that was the idea of the game in the first place.
Anyays, MEII, Gratz on X-Play GOTY. Keep your heads held high, etc. However, please stop flaming this thread about "OMG Nubz, like, we like, totally, like, won, GOTY, on like, X-play, and...) Anyways, about 99% of ME 2 Fans aren't like that... but there are a few who continuously post the SAME comment over and over again. (Who's the butthurt one now, Whoever you are.)
Don't like how there even IS a GOTY, every game has pros and cons, and each is well, different from each other. Best RTS, or Best RPG would be better IMO.
But you know, whatever guys. it's really all just a figure in the end and a fancy sticker on the game box that says, "we won the blah, blah, blah."
And to all you guys complaining about Husky "skewing" the competition, well, too bad. G4TV said to "go get your friends and tell them to vote for their favorite as well," after you clicked the vote button. So, well, thats what Husky did. I'll be honest, i never even knew this site existed before Husky told me, so, well, props.
To those saying "OMG, a console game didn't win, it should have!!!!", well, ME2 is on the PC too, so, your point is kind of dead.

Enjoy being butthurt about losing this ME2 fans, but don't worry you'll have ME3 shoved in your face soon enough. You'll forget all about this, and us SC2 players, will still be playing the same game. For years.

Yes SC2 won and all you people saying its because of Husky thats not it as a lot of other people said we are a tight knit group. Not to mention advertising and promotions on G4 and other sites for this competion and both sides promoting their games. I've played ME2 and its a great game but I like SC2 better it stays fun for me alot longer than ME2. and I play more games than SC2 but Starcraft became my favorite the day My older brother's friend introduced me to Broodwar. IMO fans voting for their favorite game should be GOTY but thats just my opinion. can't wait for SC2 Heart of the Swarm expo and ME3 and sry for wall of text lol!

You fought hard, internet community of Mass Effect 2, You were more honorable than the fanboys and sore losers from Halo: Reach. I hope to find the time to play the whole series one day. Both games have won various awards throughout the year and I hope both games will gain an even bigger fan base with their anticipated sequels and expansions to come. Congratulations, Starcraft II: may you hold fast the reigns of South Korea and its people for many years to come.

I haven't played SC2 and like jkmj12, have put about 20 hours into ME2. He/she is right though, the re-playability gives it a lil more edge. Plus the following of this game after what 12 years is huge. SC2 winning by 5% really says something good about the ME series though since it's new. Can't wait for ME3 next year!! Nice race, maybe I'll a dust off the free SC2 trial I have now...

I don't think SC2 is a match for ME2, but SC2 has multiplayer. I still don't think it matters considering ME2 has the greatest video game storyline ever written. Both do have great graphics, though i don't think a linear RTS can stand up to an open-ended RPG where you make your own choices.

Yay! Starcraft won! Excellent. My vote counted towards victory ^.^ Not that I didn't like Mass Effect 2... my problem with Mass Effect 2 was that... if you didn't complete Mass Effect 1, it gave you the worst options for what the ending of the last game was. You know what? I wasn't able to push through the problems of ME1. ME2 may have fixed about every gameplay flaw but it always annoyed me that I would just have to go back through the worse game to play the game I wanted to play.
