World of Warcraft : Cataclysm has become the fastest selling PC-game of all time. It sold 3.3 million copies in its first 24 hours of release. According to Blizzard it broke the current PC-game record held by the previous WoW expansion Wrath of the Lich King, which sold 2.8 million copies in its original launch in 2008.
More than 10,000 stores across the globe opened their doors at midnight for the launch last week. Blizzard-sponsored launch events were held all over the world, including Mexico, Chile, Russia and Australia. There were 12 million Wow-players prior to the launch of the third expansion, making sure World of Warcraft remains the most popular MMORPG out there. Be honest, are you playing Cataclysm?

i dont like WOW but i still take my hats off to Blizzard for what they do and how much money they make. I cant believe this game sold so much. But i should have seen that coming. Everything Blizzards touches turns to Gold. I speak for Startcraft and Warcraft RTS

I quit playing (went on extended hiatus, sabbatical, what have you) before Lich King shipped. The Cataclysm patch and world breaking intrigued me enough to pay for the $5/$5/$10 special and open a new account as well as start all new characters. Blizzard sucked me in again (insert "Godfather III" reference here) and I've been pleased with the changes to Azeroth so far.
If nothing else it'll keep me busy 'til "Old Republic" goes live, right? C'mon Bioware...give us a release date already!!

nope...sorry.....Stopped playing it like over a year ago... I will wait for SWTor to come out... I did not like the cutthroat sensibility of it with WoW....like ninja looting... screw someone out of their ore...try to get as much gold for an item..Elitist guilds that quite frankly sucked balls for ranking....oh ..and to top it all off...this expansion... everything should have been done when Lich King came out..not going to pay for 5 levels of what...stuff they should have done over two or three years ago.. Suck it Blizzard.....

I'm playing and I'm happy with it. With this new expansion almost all if not all of the old quests have been changed. The game seems brighter and more refined. I rerolled a new toon and am happy with all the changes.
To the guy saying that wow will devour your humanity and leave you as a withered husk... Dramatic much? lol... its a game, if you can't control yourself then that's your problem not the game.

This makes me embarrassed to be a PC gamer. It's going to set a trend (or continue the trend) of neverending MMO WoW clones on the PC. Stop buying this please people! For all our sakes, please get some rehab for your WoW addiction. In fact, this is an intervention. Your habits are hurting us all. Yes WoW is a fun game - at first. Then you realize it's just a sophisticated human brain trap designed to suck you in, devour your humanity, soil your dignity, and leave you but a withered husk. Just say no to WoW. /Endrant.

I didn't buy Cata, I won't buy Cata. I don't feel like raiding anymore, too much work to have fun when you can't trust others to do their job correctly. I'll continue playing StarCraft 2 thank you very much.

I have not purchased Cataclysm yet but I did take Blizzard up on the $5/$5/$10 deal to get back into the game after 3 1/2 years of retirement.
So far, leaning towards picking it up, but I'm not 100% sure I want to yet.
