Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim Release Date Announced

According to a tweet from Bethesda, the new Elder Scrolls game, Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim will be built on a new engine. Here's the tweet:

"Seeing lots of speculation about #tesv game engine. It's brand new... and it's spectacular!"

The last Elder Scrolls game is powered by Gamebryo, which has a reputation for being a glitchy engine, particularly with Fallout 3 and New Vegas, so it's encouraging that a new engine is being employed in the next Elder Scrolls title.

We'll have to wait until November 11, 2011 to find out how the game works on the new engine.

I have full faith in the fact that they are trying out a new engine for the new game. The milked the last engine for about 4 years or more now and did it very well i might add. So i agree the best way to show off the new engine with another Elder Scrolls game and its definitely the way to go. In case anyone hasn't noticed..... they did that with Elder Scrolls Oblivion. After that its only a matter of time where they push out another amazing apocalyptic adventure we all call Fall Out!!! Hell yeaaaaa peopleeee! Sorry for posting twice but i had to correct my mistakes lol.

id tech 5 engine is my bet.

Bethesda and id are both owned by the same parent company.

They probably have been working on this since Fallout 3 finished. Would explain why they had Obsidian do New Vegas. Good thing is they they tend not to say anything about TES games until they are getting close to finishing.

Yea, now I guess we know why they seemed so lazy with the past couple games. They were working on this beauty (at least I hope that's it). All I know, Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim = GotY 2011, write it down. XD

Interested in how this will go, I'm think this change will be for the better. Too bad it won't use id Tech 5, but it probably take another year or so of development if that were the case...

I hope for more weapons, better spells, vampires as well as werewolves more guilds, a mmo maybe?, a larger cast of voice actors, better voice and sound effects and lastly longer storyline

Hopefully new engine means less of those annoying (though sometimes hilarious problem), but I still expect there to be problems like clipping, floating people etc. With a game as big, content wise and geographically speaking, as Elder Scrolls, there are bound to be glitches.

Maybe there will be no more character floating in third person mode?

Thank god. I loved the fallout games, but gamebryo was starting to show it's age even in fallout 3. Hopefully we'll get some more fluid character animations.
