Radical Entertainment officially announced Prototype 2, the sequel to the team’s 2009 shape-shifting, open-world action title, during tonight’s VGA 2010 awards show. Prototype 2 will be released in 2012 and will feature a new main character, Sergeant James Heller, as he goes on a quest to kill his maker, Alex Mercer.
A lot of Prototype’s thunder was stolen somewhat thanks to the unfair comparisons people drew between the game and Sucker Punch’s inFamous, which is a shame because tearing through a massive recreation of New York City, running along skyscrapers, and knocking helicopters out of the sky with our mutant fists was a blast.
What will the quest to kill Alex Mercer entail? We'll have to wait to find out. Prototype 2 will be available in 2012.

The 1st one was lame because except brutal action there was nothing there ,the way that script was opened to us was terrible -some flashes, pieces of words, ai of enemies especially soldiers was dumb , you can absorb 1 in front of the other and there is no reaction, citizens react on us only localy ,it was real fun for an hout or 2 but no more.

OK, so I am glad they are making Prototype 2. I had a lot of fun with the first one. I have extremely mixed feelings about changing the protagonist. I prefer to play as the original character when playing a sequel. However, changing the protagonist will allow them to change the powers and abilites, which in turn will allow them to inject fresh gameplay into the franchise. I will certainly be buiying this game!

Hoping the game is fun and has an interesting storyline without all the bizarre (hide) you have to do. I found it just to be a little silly I could go into a base, shape-shifted and then proceed to take out the base one behind the back munch session at a time. Go, be this officer to get a tank missions were tedious and could have been skipped. Absorbing memories was interesting but in the grand scale the game just felt like I was hopping from one end of the map to the other performing some stupid task then hiding from helicopters...rinse and repeat.

Wow. I liked Prototype but I never thought that they would make a sequel.

The AI was painfully bad in the first one, I hope they fix that. But either way I'm still getting it.

I really liked Prototype, but there were some problems. I hope they fixed all the problems. It has been about four years since the first. I am looking forward to finding out more about Prototype 2.

This surprised me. I'll stick with Infamous 2 instead of an Activision game that just feels like a reskinned Spider-Man/Hulk game.

So many haters as usual. I'm glad to be one of those people who are glad to see more than just one open world game. GTA, Saints Row, Just Cause, Mercenaries, Proto-type, Infamous, The Sabotuer, Fable, whatever. I love open world 3rd person, go any where, do whatever, whenever you want games. More games equals mor fun for me.
But I'm not one ofnthose people who can only eat one kind of steak or drink one kind of beer. I loves games and as long as they are fun what is the big deal.
Then again I'm a mature gamer and I look to this version. Lots of room for improvement sure, but I still enjoyed the first game.

Isn't Infamous 2 coming out in 2012? So the comparison will continue. I hope they fix the flaws of the first one.

I think I am the only person in the world who saw this sequel coming. The story didn't seem like it needed to continue and it wasn't well recieved with most people, but I still had a feeling in my gut that it would have a sequel.
I have noticed people voicing their opinions on Prototype and, for some reason, inFamous. I actually loved Prototype. It's a crazy beat 'em up kind of game that's focus is on utter destruction rather than story. I had a blast massacring the citizens of New York and that's all I care about. As for inFamous, I don't own a PS3, so I can't play it, but I'm sure I would love it. I played a demo of it at Walmart and I really enjoyed it, even when the right analog stick on the controller was broken. It's definitely a slower paced game than Prototype, but that's perfectly fine with me. Games that let you make choices are also a favorite of mine, so that's a plus.
For both games, I love them for their best parts and I don't hate them for their worst. I wish everyone could just either always look on the bright side when they play a game or learn to keep their mouths shut, because being a negative Nancy just makes you look like a D-bag.

So, Alex is the villain of this game? What's next, Shepard being the villain of the next Mass Effect?

After playing both Prototype and Infamous I can easily say that Prototype was the better of the two and I can't wait for the release of Prototype 2. Infamous in comparison to Prototype is a rather lackluster game. I picked up Infamous after I had already owning and beating prototype expecting a game that would atleast be as much fun as Prototype was but after playing I quickly realized that Infamous was nothing but a poor attempt at a super hero game. I was rather disappointed in Infamous in Prototype while playing you get this feeling of Invulnerability but in Infamous you get the feeling that it was rushed and unfinished. hopefully these problems will be fixed for Infamous 2 mean while I'll be busy with Prototype 2.

Not as awesome as the Mass Effect 3 announcement but I will probably look into this game as I enjoyed the first Prototype.
Poke!
their just trying to keep up with inFAMOUS. I didn't get the plot to the first game lets hope I get this one
ProudFilipino
Ok when Prototype and inFAMOUS were first announced I was excited more for Prototype. But in the end I thought inFAMOUS was so much better. I think a sequel is cool but I think inFAMOUS 2 will still be better.
angryman038
I really wanted prototype to be good. Even though I hated infamous I still have to say it was a much better game than prototype,
UNrealx007
To me there was no compition Prototype was a way better game than infamous. The stroy was more intense and so were the missions. Not to mention i love zombies games so there was no compition once again. However, i did play prototype first so that might have something to do with it as well idk. All I know is that Im going to buy this game. One more thing if you read this far. Stop posting on games you dont like, we get it you probly sucked at the game cuz it was to hard get over it and stay off articles about good games!
