As we grind out way towards the end of the year (and I seriously mean that, grind ... I just leveled up my Warlock. GRATZ TO MYSELF!), Feedback stands as that lone totem pole each week that beckons you back towards the mecca of gaming. With all of the major games already released, we're spending time looking back, and looking forward. With that in mind, what were some of your favorite gaming moments from 2010? Can you remember all the way back to the start of the year? Back to a time when things were more innocent? When WikiLeaks wasn't busy spilling the dirt on you and your high school sweetheart reconnecting on Facebook?
Next week on Wednesday we'll be running our "Best of 2010" episode, but after that episode we'll be looking backwards at the rest of the year. That's what we need your queries for, dear watchers/listeners. Let's take a moment to remember 2010, then his us back with questions about your highlights from the past year. No holds barred, people. Pounds that question mark key into submission.

My absolute favorite gaming moments of 2010 involved agonizing choices. I agonized over not screwing up the suicide mission in Mass Effect 2. I squirmed to come up with the best way to remove my finger without dying in Heavy Rain. So, what kinds of agonies are you looking forward to next year?
PS I picked my scree name (Blue_Falcon) to let Adam know that we are in the same age group -- yes Adam, some of us are still alive.

With the recent announcement of Miss 'Splosion Man coming to XBL, what are your thoughts on it's release? Is it a great chance to explore more of the platforming that made Twisted Pixel who they are today? Or is it a just rehash of a game that players have already move on from?

A week or 2 ago a video was posted of a side by side comparison for GT5 and Forza 3. As I understand it Forza 3 got a 5/5 when it came out and GT5 for a 4/5. From what I can see on the forum posts about the reviews there were some controversies caused by the difference in score, as people didn't agree that Forza was better than GT5.
Now I understand that games are reviewed by different people at different times and so game score comparisons don't count and I've seen and agree with many of the arguments you've made about the way you guys score games, and the comparison that people make with your games scores previously and agree with you.
My question is then, why would you do a side by side comparison of the games like that when the difference in the scores for these 2 games is already being questioned? Aren't you inviting people to make that comparison in your scores by doing this?
Also quick 2nd but I understand if you ignore. The comparison video I saw, I only saw 1, seemed to be of the beginning of each game. Why bother doing a graphical comparison on both games that is different when in the case of these games you have a perfect opportunity to actually do a side by side comparison of similar games on different consoles. There are tracks and cars that are in both games, and seeing a side by side of the same car at Laguna Seca or the Nurburg Ring would have been pretty damn cool to see.
I'm not trying to criticize just understands, as it seems odd to do something like this when you spend so much time defending the way you score games, and then just to add fuel to the fire doing the comparison badly (my opinion). Unless of course the fuel to the fire was the goal in the first place, in which case it was hilarious :)

This may seem annoying but I am going to ask anyway. Why did NBA 2K11 get nominated for game of the year but God of War 3 did not? I do not care how good a sports game is it does not deserve to be in that category. While a game like GOW3 which has amazing graphics, gripping story, and fun gameplay gets overlooked is beyond me. I understand the reasoning for the other candidates but NBA 2K11 just seems like an odd duck in a otherwise wonderful assortment of great games.

I apologize, my question is short, but my point is long winded. I just started watching Feedback, so I don't know if anyone actually reads these comments or not.
My question is, are there going to be honorable mentions in the awards categories?
The reason for my question is, I feel like Alan Wake is being overlooked in all forms. As far as I could tell, the game wasn't even mentioned at Spike's VGAs. Gamespot had it in some categories, but I don't think it was currently winning any of them. It did receive "Game of the Year" according to Time magazine, which was pretty surprising. Obviously, I was ecstatic to see this. Like most gamers, Time magazine is my #2 source for video game news and reviews right after X-Play. /sarcasm
Red Dead Redemption crushed it in opening week sales and now it looks like in most award nominations it's going to be killed by Mass Effect 2. Not that I'm saying these two games don't deserve the recognition they're getting.
If there is a "best game no one bought" category, I think Alan Wake would win it. Unless I'm misinformed on how well it did sales-wise. Seriously, I haven't had this much trouble making people play a game since the Prince of Persia reboot on PS1.
To be fair, I haven't played Red Dead Redemption or Mass Effect 2 (I know, where have I been all year?), but Alan Wake was a damn fine game. It's frustrating that my favorite new IP (that would be a good awards category, too, actually) is being overlooked.
Oh, well... I'll be crossing my fingers for a sequel.
Thanks,
Tim

Dear Gods of Feedback,
This year alot of sequels to great games have been release and in upcoming years there are more to come. It seems as though game developers don't want to try something new because of the possibilty that the game may fail or might not get that much popularity. I'm speaking of Enslaved.
There has not been many reboots of games and as the Duke Nukem reboot is around the corner. I read the post on the G4 site: "The Nine Video Game Sequels We'd Like To See". A JourneyMan Project reboot would be awesome and I've been waiting for another Oddworld for years. Do you think game developers should keep making these successful sequels or make reboots of popular old franchises?

Call of duty Black Ops is one of the best games of the year even though you dontget the original call of dty multiplaer feel with the unlocks of progression in levels

Call of Duty is obviously one of the most significant game franchises in existence at this time. However, there seems to be very little media exposure around the significant problems that PS3 users are experiencing with the recently released Black Ops. I do not need to go into details as I am sure you aware of them, and if not you can simply take a look at the PS3 form on the Call of Duty site. Do you guys and girls see this (poor secondary console porting, etc) is a sign of things to come in regards to the quality of multi-platform games? Also, what do you think that Treyarch/Activision should do in order most quickly salvage their PS3 fan-base? Should their be any kind of legal action taken against these publishers?

First of all, i'm a huge fan of Feedback, its been the highlight of my week every week since the first episode. There, now that the obligatory ass-kissing is out of the way on to my question:
One of the bigger announcements over the weekend was Guillermo del Toro's "iNsane". The director has gone on record saying that this game will be released as a trilogy. So, my question to you is: do you think its a little bit presumptuous, even for someone with the credibility of del Toro, to announce that his first foray into making video games will be a trilogy, at least 2 years before the supposed 1st game in the series is released?(Not that i don't have faith this game will be good enough to warrant the sequels, just playing devil's advocate here.)

Hello feedback,
Did you watch the VGAs? Specifically the opening? It started with a musical number, people dancing, Neil Patrick Harris rising to the top of the stage; all fine. Then Harris takes out two AK-47s and mows down the entire stage full of people, even going back and to shoot some of their dead bodies just for fun. He finishes by welcoming everyone to "Family Hour" on SpikeTV. The VGAs language and humor has always been very "mature", but sadly their behavior has not followed suit. Personally, I stopped watching after the opening scene out of embarrassment.
Being in the public eye as THE awards show for video games, shouldn't an effort be made to present itself in a more respectable, dignified way? Video games already have a bad rap for selling violence to minors. That, along with the oversexualization of women and general "child-like" attitudes toward mature subject matter, do you think the VGAs do more to harm than good for the image of gaming? I feel like it would be disrespectful to the medium, not to mention to the great people who work in the medium, to allow the VGAs to continue its way of doing things.

2010 was a very big year in gaming and one of the big questions on my mind is about the PC as a platform. Due to the lack of a controlling body like Microsoft for Xbox, Sony for PS3, and Nintendo for Wii, the PC suffers a little from Mainstream marketing and integration.
My question to you is do you see Blizzard or Valve with their huge customer base and Digital Distribution capabilities becoming the Crusaders for the PC as a gaming platform? Or will it stay a small group of gamers that love the PC but have to trade big releases for the freedom in hardware and software as well as the great indy games that start here and move to the consoles because there is no company with an investment in the platform?

I read that the upcoming PSP 2, the games will be on memory sticks and downloadable. Do you see other consoles taking the same idea and put games on usb thumb drive or memory cards. I wouldn't mind going to Safeway and download a game to my usb drive from a Redbox machine.

Hey feed-squad, greetings from Norway! Big fan yadayadayada (get to the question right?)
With so many RPGs of presumably high-quality being released in the upcoming year
Dragon Age 2, Mass Effect 3, Elder Scrolls 5, Witcher 2, Diablo III and Deus Ex: Human Revolution
I have a whole host of questions, feel free to pick only one:
(1) Do you believe it is a coincidence or is there some industry trend that seems opaque to us mere mortals?
(2) Do you believe MMOs have hindered or helped the popularity of regular RPGs?
(3) It seems to me that computer RPGs have historically been
story-interactive (conversation trees),
narrative (have a strong focus on story) games with
character progression (stats, leveling etc.).
To me, the requirement for an RPG was always the story-interactive part and I would be uninterested if the game did not have an engaging story. But as more an more games implement some character progression (call of duty), has an interactive story (Heavy Rain) and focus on strong story (Uncharted 2) and RPGs foregoing some of these elements f.ex. Diablo and interactive storytelling.
--- Do you believe we need a new definition of what a roleplaying game on a computer is? ---
With a passionate hope for an answer ;)

Ok, i know you guys probably aren't talking about this but the more i see call of duty, the more i am hinted at a subscription fee. And i know people say its not going to happen but, with activision anything can happen. But with the subscription, i would actually think it is a good think if they do some stuff for us in return. with the money we are giving them, they could use it to make new maps, weapons, and clothes. And better service, less lagging, and better graphics. But imagine, in the future, for mabye 30 or 40 bucks a year you could have the perfect call of duty expience. with mabye bigger maps and more people thrown into these maps. Heck, if we could get new weapons, maps, and other things just like rock band dlc if we pay for a decription, im would pay 30 bucks a year. like what if every two week or so, they give us a new map. Would you pay for this?

Best of 2010 is over and fans have argued their opinions to the very last Deathmatch. Once all is said and done, two things are certain. Tomorrow will come and we are all gamers.
2011 is upon us and companies have teased us of things to come. Some more than others, I believe Mr. Sessler has said it s looking like the year of Sony with PS3 exclusive after exclusive. Nintendo is bringing their 3DS with a lot of 3rd party support. Microsoft has an exclusive and Kinect with all of us still asking what are they going to do with it?
For the Feedback crew what are you looking forward to in the New Year?

With some really juicy games announced this week, (Elder Scrolls V Skyrim, Uncharted 3, Mass Effect 3, are the seeming biggest to me) are there any games franchises where you're so invested in the story that you consciously choose not to watch trailers and anything else that would potentially have any spoiler material in it OR does your being in the video game media force you to consult these things that might spoil a game for you? Do you have the liberty to black yourself out from any one game in the interest of being surprised by the final outcome? Do you like spoiling games storylines for yourself? Or would you even have the willpower to keep yourself away from spoiler material?

Is it better to release a major title (like Fallout: New Vegas) on time but with so many bugs it's almost unplayable OR to postpone the release until the problems are resolved?
How detrimental to sales and 'brand loyalty' is either choice? If publishers know there's a strong fan base is Quality Control put on the back burner?

With the raw amount of zombie games and zombie modes within games over the past year, I've come to notice one vacant spot in my utter love for zombie-killing. That void being the lack of a zombie survival/killing MMO. To be blatantly honest I'm surprised nothing like this has come out yet. Yes, killing undead is in many MMOs but there isn't (for all I know) one solid zombie survival MMO. I know there was talks of one in the making, but what are your thoughts on one? I personally would love one, and with how well the zombie-killing market seems to be I would imagine it would do well. Do you feel there is a future for MMOZS (Massively Multiplayer Online Zombie Slaughter)?
