Finally, i love the Fallout Series and it"s good that a patch is coming out i find it sad though that with all this advancement in technolgy today that bugs like this would be a problem
blueboykc
apparently from what im reading the ps3 patch fixed some things but not the freezing and in some cases made it worse..come on ppl how is this acceptable? even if the patch fixes 99% of the bugs and glitches on the 360 version but not the freezing i wont be playing it..im not ruining a brand new 360 to play the harassed game that should never have been shipped in this condition in the first place..really at this point i have zero trust or respect for bethesda/obsidian..

I think it would have been easier to list the things it didn't fix. That list makes it look like the game didn't work at all.
I put in about 80 hrs for platinum, and despite a couple quest breaking glitches and a few dozen freezes, the game ran okay. But now that we fixed everything, get working on PS3 DLC!

Just started a new game about ten minutes ago.
The very first quest, the tutorial where you have to kill the geckos at the water pumps, bugged out. One of the geckos spawned in the rocks so I couldn't kill it and couldn't advance. I then loaded my autosave and lost the ability to look around.
True story.
Going to reinstall the game and patch and see what happens.

i sent this email to jake, official xbox mag and i also posted it on the be feedbacks question of the week..apparently the staff at g4 are too afraid of bethesda/obsidian to ask them any detrimental questions..either that or they really just dont give a damn about the problem..
i wish someone there would look deeper into the problems with fallout new vegas. i know your reviewer didnt find any game breaking glitches but lots of ppl have. theres a dlc glitch, something to do with the preorder bonuses, that corrupts all your save files, constant freezing and quest breaking bugs. these arent just isolated to a small number of players either were talking hundreds upon hundreds of ppl. if you dont believe me go over to the official forums http://forums.bethsoft.com/ind ex.php?/forum/109-fallout-new- vegas-hardware-and-software-is sues/ and also check out the user reviews at online retailers like amazon. i personally was shocked at the number of ppl having issues and im sure a lot of ppl in your industry dont realize how big the problem actually is. im telling you its a huge deal and its across all platforms too. what i want to know is how did this game get released in this condition? how did all these problems slip past the testers? did they know of these problems and just shipped the game in this horrid condition anyways? how is this an acceptable business practice? i paid upwards of 80 bucks for a game im afraid to play. what if after 100 hours in my save files corrupt? i know they will patch the game but thats besides the point. is this going to be standard practice now to release a game practically unplayable to and unsuspecting gaming public with the attitude of oh well we can always patch it later? i myself am furious and i know that i am not alone in my anger. a lot of ppl feel that we were used as unpaid beta testers. and another thing ppl are furious over is the fact they had the gall to announce dlc knowing ppl are having all these problems with the main game. thats just greedy. apparently official playstation magazine has an article about it in their current issue though i havent read it. i would really appreciate someone looking into this. i dont think this should be let go as easily as it looks like it is. i personally feel used and insulted that this game was released in the condition it was. i feel used that bethesda/obsidian knew ppl were going to be lining up to buy this game and instead of properly testing the game they released it anyway. they wont even admit the problems as big as it is. they made millions and millions of dollars selling a product that a lot of ppl cant even play and they sit in silence counting their piles of money only concerned on how to squeeze more out of us. anyways im sorry for the rant im just so frustrated with this situation i cant stand it. thank you for you time.

I wouldn't be shocked to hear that this actually adds bugs/glitches for some users.
@angryman038
I couldn't agree more. I spent 200+ hours playing Fallout 3 but after about 40 hours of New Vegas I just can't enjoy it anymore. I might have played to much Fallout 3 or maybe its just that New Vegas is just Fallout 3.5 with the same bugs/glitches and outdated engine.
angryman038
I loved fallout 3 so much but new vegas turned out to be such a dissappiontment for me.
that_sterlin_kid
I already got this platinum... But I will most certainly be going back and playing through this again glitch free!!! I'm pumped!
jamesr631
yea i love fallout but it seems they dont have good enough quality testers to announce the bugs within the game... its really good that the patch is out so i can acctually enjoy the game.
jungan
Yay I can finally finish this game and be done with it forever. Maybe I'll get COD BlOps next or WOW Catackalism!

looks like they remade the whole game again in a patch.
Deckard
Great game

I see nothing in here about fixing the reload glitch for all single-shell load weapons (hunting shotgun, cowboy repeater, etc...) have. That's like the single most game breaking glitch in the friggin' game since it basically freezes your character from using the weapon and moving effectively. Man, if Bethesda did this game we wouldn't be dealing with any of this crap. Additionally, this massive patch was quoted to have been in the works "since launch day". What does that even mean? That they knew they'd have to make this massive patch when they launched it and went this way instead of, oh I don't know, finishing the damn game that didn't even REQUIRE a massive patch?
Ok, I love the game, but the glitches are totally ridiculous enough for me to get this angry. It's unacceptable that this game launched as it is with so many problems
imaximus
I just want the game to stop freezing and crashing for almost no apparent reason. Walking from one place to another with seemingly nothing going on should not cause the damn game to freeze up. I can handle a buggy quest or an interface hiccup, but when a game freezes up every two hours or so of gameplay, it makes it pretty much unplayable.
The whole time you're constantly thinking. "Should I go ahead and save now? I don't want to freeze up when I turn this corner and lose the last hour of work."

Technological advancement and the expansion of the Internet has allowed gaming companies to do exactly what everyone is complaining about: They can put software on the market that has bugs in it, and they can release patches to fix those problems. Because of this, it doesn't really matter if Bethesda releases a bug-laden product... Obsidian will be able to fix it, and it will download straight to your computer/PS3/360 because we allow it to happen.
Deal with it. =P
darthjafo
Jebus...that's like every quest in the game practically. WOW. Bad job Obsidian
DreamingDarklyRobin
People are acting as if every copy of the game is broken and every will have a tough time playing. That is not true, I had the same experience with Oblivion, Fallout 3, and now this. All of them have glitches but none of them were unplayable by any means.
joshualwilliams1981
I've put in 40 hours and haven't had that many issues. A few of them can be fixed with user created mods. PC Users only, however...

The game definitely has its issues but overall it is a killer game. And I agree, if it weren't so buggy and maybe did some new stuff it could go for GOTY. I have played well over 30 hours and still haven't beaten it so i'm getting my money worth.
