Naughty Dog has release a few more details and some stunning new screenshots for its newly announced Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception. The game received its big reveal this morning, but now we have much clearer picture (literally) of the visual tone and style of Drake’s next big adventure. Spoiler: it looks phenomenal.
Naughty Dog community strategist Arne Meyer posted the following details and screens on the PlayStation Blog, revealing in the process that while the game will follow Nathan Drake as he scours the Arabian Desert for the mythical “Atlantis of the Sands,” Drake’s adventure will also take him to various locations around the world that “will showcase all of the work we’ve taken on to take acclaimed physics, particle and visual effects to a new level.” If you doubt these claims about upping the visual ante, just check out these new screens:

Also, rather unsurprisingly, Meyer revealed that Uncharted 3 will be presented in Stereoscopic 3D when it lands on the PlayStation 3 sometime next year (Thankfully, Naughty Dog decided against the all too common Uncharted 3D title treatment). While I have very lukewarm feelings towards 3D gaming, Uncharted is one of those franchises that is so visually spectacular and flawless that I’m actually genuinely interested to see Drake doing his thing in 3D.
Amazon is also getting into the Uncharted 3 reveal act today, as it's posted the following cover art, which may or may not be final, but it's still perty to look at:

And if all of this wasn’t enough of an Uncharted 3 overload for you, Naughty Dog will actually be stopping by Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on December 13 to give a live demo of the game, suggesting that Sony’s big “reveal” this Sunday might actually turn out to be a giant Uncharted 3 blowout event after all. Guess we’ll find out in a couple days.
