How dose the level of difficulty a video game has factor into game of the year. Do you feel games that challenged you are your favorite or do you love the easy game play.

What justifies a reboot? With some older games getting reboots I am starting to wonder what is the real reason behind them. From an example, if you take a game from the 80's and change everything about it, how it is played, the way it is viewed, and even when the whole reason behind the games vision is changed, does it still count as a reboot or is it just a new IP with an old IP's name? I will say this though, if a games creator had an idea for a game that could not be made when the game got the green light and they now realize they can show the world their dream as it was meant to be seen then I can see that as being an acceptable reason for the reboot. Syndicate could be one of those. This game is what inspired raised this thought. I can see it as a squad based shooter, but not a solo hero shooter. I do hope they show us what a true reboot should be like.
(I feel I should admit I have very little memories of playing Syndicate at a friends house, so please enlighten me if my hopes for a proper syndicate reboot as a shooter is completely wrong)

Greetings from Trinidad and Tobago! Straight to it, with the up coming release of Skyrim and its awesomeness, did Bethesda (or anyone affiliated with them) hinted or otherwise indicate any intention of a Fallout 5? With the new "Creation Engine" that should prove..... adventurous!

I've seen other game reviewers rate games and go deeper into detail, giving a game an "out of 10" rating (Ex. 8.8/10), sometimes on each of it's features (Ex. Presintation: 9.1). I feel that it helps to redeem a game that has a bad story or not so good graphics by talking about exceptional gameoplay or controls (Ex. Story: 9.2, Gameplay: 7.3). Do you think a bad game for one reason should be scarred and never talked about again or do you think that you should talk about the better things in that game?

Death of the passive protagonist.
Strangely enough, I believe story is becoming the next innovation trend in gaming. More developers want to focus on it, but the games that shine have a key ingredient that has been overlooked for too long. A protagonist with a strong voice and an independent purpose, prominent examples being L.A. Noire, Mass Effect, Uncharted, rather than a floating gun following orders.
Do you think a stronger narrative comes from adding this element or can a story be just as successful without it? (Portal 2, Halo Reach)

Hello to the Feedback crew!
My question concerns the recently announced Modern Warfare 3. As you know, the game was announced just this week, and is due for a November 8th release of this year. Normally, triple A titles are announced a year or two before their expected release (i.e. Starcraft, Halo, Grand Theft Auto, etc...). Do you believe that the Jason West / Vince Zampella issue will be irreversibly detrimental to Modern Warfare 3? Will the short comings of Infinity Ward (granted they're not to blame) impact the quality of their product? Do you think the game will fail to meet expectations in terms of polish and completion because of such a hasty announcement and quick release, due to Activision's "game-a-year" marketing plan?

To the feedback crew,
I've noticed that this fall marks the end of a few trilogys. Mass effect, Gears of war, Uncharted [I know that 3 will not be the end for the uncharted series]. So what is your favorite game trilogy of all time? Mine is Mass Effect because of its ability to continue your story and have all your choices imported it feels like one of the few games I've actually felt like I had a part of making the game. What are your thoughts?

Looking at the NPD numbers for November, 500,000 PS3s vs 1.3 Million XBOX 360s. What's up with that? Is it indicative of a lackluster holiday lineup for Sony? Is it Kinect outselling Move? Or is it something else completely? Why is PS3 losing its shine in America?

Looking at the GOTY, the G4 staff has nominated games that seem to have qualities fitting in multiple other catagories (example: AC: Brotherhood in Best Mutiplayer, Best Action/Adventure, & Best Writing). So it's safe to say that if a game can pull in gamers from all walks of life from the casual to the hardcore, it's a valid candidate for GOTY. To follow this point up, I can't say I dive headfirst into the RTS genre but it wouldn't be difficult to find satisfaction in Starcraft II.
And to my question: Do you think that game developers should have the GOTY mentality when making a game, or would you argue that being the defining game in a particular category (think Gran Turismo 5) is ultimately better for the industry?
agirlyman
I see you have Assassin's Creed Brotherhood on that list, while I agree it's a masterpiece, how can you justify it's making the list when it just came out?
Anyway I think the battle for GOTY award boils down to Mass Effect 2, and Red Dead Redemption. These two games are the standard to which all others should be measured, every category from gameplay, story, score, artwork, design, physics, you name it these games have it all. Replay value is off the charts, and the only thing that gives Red Dead Redemption the edge over Mass Effect 2 is it's multiplayer.
Red Dead Redemption Game of the Year.

On your list you've got a strategy game, a sports games, an RPG, whatever Epic Mickey is, but some genres are noticeably absent. Do you feel that this has been a particularly weak year for any particular genre (I notice you only have 3 best fighting game nominees) or a particularly strong year for any other?

Hello everyone at Feedback!
Two weeks ago with Epic Mickey being the subject of Feedback, you made a point about your desire for this game to be also on other consoles as you saw it as a game that should not be chained to only one console and one audience, that you saw its appeal to a much broader audience even.
Mass Effect 2 is already being ported to the PS3 in January and that was originally a 360 exclusive title. (Interactive comic of Mass Effect 1 not withstanding)
My question is this then; What other games that are made as an exclusive, console system does not matter, do you wish to see made as a multi-platform game that you see as a game that is just too large of a game in scope and content that should not be chained down to a single console?
crocodilius
When will people realize that PC games are superior in every way to console games? (no matter how much i love my PS3)
I understand you need to fill out a least to make it seem there's competition but: Starcraft.
fyi: 2011 game of the year: Diablo3.
Wozman23
2011 is just quickly approaching and seems to have an overabundance of huge titles. What games are you looking forward to the most? Mine is a tie between LittleBigPlanet 2, Dead Space 2, Resistance 3, Ratchet and Clank: All 4 One, Uncharted 3, and Infamous 2.
skillsthatkills
simple question:
Do you think there are too many games for 2011.
with the first 3 months having delayed games, plus games that were already slated for release during those 3 months, and having a plethora of games for the fall and winter seasons, including games that may not be announced yet. I just want to know if you think for the hardcore gamers having so many of their favorite games coming out only a month apart or so, does this cause many gamers to no have the ability to play many of the great games next year. And of course if this leads to stress on your part for reviewing this game?
Thank You

Dear Feedback,
Regarding the match up of Mass Effect 2 vs. Starcraft 2, do you think the promotion SC2 received on Youtube was unfair? Or is such an endorsement okay because the oppertunity presented itself? With all the PC gamers that are voting BECAUSE of the interference, is it actually MORE balanced than it would otherwise have been?
ElectricBones
Hi there,, I was watching your Feedback episode about Epic Mickey and how you get that moment of revelation with the mechanics. The way you want to go back and see what happens if you had done it this way. How the game lures you down a path you didn't know existed. A subtlety to a "morality" system that a lot of games aim for and seem to miss.
But that got me thinking Do they actually "miss" that element? Or is it the completionist in gamers and the achievements in games that force developers, in a way, to put these obvious extremes of morality into their games, leaving us short of these journeys and experiences?

Hey Feedback crew!
Well it's that time of the year again, and by that I mean the time when every single website, magazine, tv show, etc. starts deciding their game of the year. Well unfortunately, I think this is a bit of a problem. In almost all other entertainment mediums there is a universal group accepted by everyone that decides the best movie (Oscars), music (Grammys), and books (Pulitzer). The game industry is divided and has no universal award which I think needs to be remedied, because every year after the holidays I'll walk into a store and see 5 different game of the year editions. What are your opinions?
