Mortal Kombat has just added Sony's cover boy, Kratos, to their upcoming game roster. The God of War is acting as a Sony ambassador for the PS3 version, but Mortal Kombat is a cross-platform title. So, it's very likely that an Xbox 360 exclusive character will be announced as well. Games like Soul Calibur 4 have done this in the past: the PS3 version had a playable Darth Vader and the Xbox 360 version had a playable Yoda. Both characters were eventually available as downloadable content.
God of War has been a monumental success for Sony and the PlayStation. Kratos serves as a shining example of what the PS3 can offer as well as a face for the console. The Xbox 360 exclusive character should embody the same the attributes, and he or she should be synonymous with the Xbox 360. Who should Microsoft's poster boy, or girl, be?

Marcus Fenix
The Gears of War series has been incredibly successful for Microsoft over the past few years. Gears 1 and Gears 2 are among the best known third-person shooters. Despite coming out in 2009, Gears of War 2 is still one of most popular games on Xbox Live. Gears of War 3's delay until the Holiday 2011 caused many broken hearts, mine included. This is why Marcus Fenix and his trademarked lancer need to go to the tournament.
Marcus Fenix is the main protagonist in the Gears series. When Gears 1 starts out he's an inmate trapped in prison for going AWOL to rescue his father. Before his arrest he had a noteworthy military career where he garnered a reputation for being an elite fighter against the Locust. He meets the MK requirements: a troubled past, a badass attitude and the perfect finishing move. Sawing someone in half with his chainsaw-gun would be ideal. The only thing working against Marcus is how slow the Gears characters move. Taking steroids has consequences, kids
Marcus has also already made cameo appearances, like Kratos' stint in Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny. Marcus was a character in Lost Planet 2's multiplayer in the form of a bonus costume.

Master Chief
Let's get real. If there was one franchise that encompasses everything the Xbox 360 stood for it would be Halo. Halo: Combat Evolved started on the original Xbox and each installment since has made a gigantic impact on the gaming industry. In Halo 1, Halo 2, and Halo 3, the main character is Master Chief Petty Officer John-117. Master Chief is a cybernetically enhanced super solider and he is humanities only hope against the Covenant.
Master Chief is a video game icon, among the likes of Mario and Sonic. Master Chief is a genetically enhanced man of few words. He is depicted as a calm, critical fighter who has been trained to be the best. Before the events of Halo 1 Master Chief was a solider in the United Nations Space Command. His combat record was commendable but many he fought with grew to distrust him. Throughout his journey in the Halo series he became a hero. You know what Mortal Komabt lacks? A Hero. And helmets, there aren't nearly enough helmets in the series.
Master Chief has been considered for a fighting game before. Team Ninja approached Bungie about including him Dead or Alive 4. Due to story line restrictions Master Chief couldn't be used so a compromise was made. That compromise's name was Nicole-458, a female spartan built off of Halo 2 game data.
Alan Wake
Alan Wake was a psychological action thriller released earlier this year exclusively for the Xbox 360. The game centers around Alan Wake, a writer who must uncover the mysterious disappearance of his wife. The events in the novel he has no memory of writing begin to happen in real life. Okay, I know that doesn't sound like that most exciting premise for a character in a fighting game but that's exactly why Mortal Kombat needs him.
Alan is armed with a flashlight. No character in the Mortal Kombat series has a flashlight as their main weapon so he gets plus points for creativity. He has a mission to find his lost love, more plus points. He is modeled after a Finnish actor, I don't think any MK characters are from Finland. Plus that leaves room for a "Finnishing move" joke, am I right?
Xbox Avatars
Xbox Live Avatars are the XBL versions of you. Players have the ability to customize characters' body shape, hair style and clothing. Using the Xbox Live Marketplace you can purchase outfits, accessories and even pets to make your avatar as much like you, or as different as you want. what if Mortal Kombat would let you fight with your Xbox Live Avatar.
XBL Avatars are so much more than Miis. They can be representations of you or your online persona. If MK implemented Avatars into the game it would be as though you were participating in the game, performing your own combos and fatalities. Who doesn't want to see their Xbox-selves tearing out someone's spine?

Joanna Dark
Joanna Dark is a secret agent and all around badass. She has humble beginnings working with her father as a bounty hunter. Traveling the world with her dad, she learned all the necessary skills to be the perfect agent, and perhaps the perfect fighter. She earned the nickname "Perfect Dark" because of the excellent scores she received at the Carrington Institute where she was trained. Perfect Dark may have debuted on the N64 but it had a life on the Xbox 360.
Joanna has everything a female fighter needs. First and foremost a female can't be in a fighting game without a sexy outfit. Joanna is ready, she sports a tight black spandex suit, usually cut down to her naval. It's not quite Mileena's costume but it'll do. She also has all the right moves since she's been fighting bad guys since she was a child.

Horstachio
Horstachio is the mascot for the Xbox exclusive series Viva Pinata. Now I know what you're thinking, "A pinata in Mortal Kombat. Surely you jest." Viva Pinata has been a fan favorite for years and certainly has a solid base. Plus the fun, bright colors will attract the attention of those gamers with short attention spans, like myself.
I dare say that not a single character on this list has been beaten up and utterly destroyed more times than Horstachio. That's what pinatas are made for, hitting. The only difference is instead of blood and guts he's full of candy and love.

If this was Mortal Kombat watered down the way they did with MK vs DC, then yeah, I could maybe see Master Chief / any spartan soldier as the 360 exclusive character... but they've made it pretty clear that they're going back to their gore and bloodlust roots for this reboot, and Marcus Fenix / any Gears character is the only 360 exclusive character that would be allowed to be portrayed in a gratuitously graphic nature, for obvious reasons. Yes, Halo is a shooter. But it's also probably the least gorey/realistic shooter available, and that's how Microsoft and Bungie want to keep it. All other "contenders" are null and void for the exact same reason; they have to keep a certain squeaky clean image. And Alan Wake just, um, no. Won't happen. Half the time he's running away from things and tripping over himself; he's no fighter.

Joanna Dark, now that's out of left field. I like it though. I actually enjoyed Perfect Dark on the 360. She could add some sex appeal and badass-ary to the game. She gets my vote.

one of the spartans from noble team would be sick. emile would be pretty sick

I would like to see some pinata's if you did a friendship, but I think Marcus Fenix is the only one that fits with the gore and such.

I vote for Alf.. Though he hasnt had a 360 he is just a fun alien
BONERJAM
None of these characters fit. Kratos fits but I can't think of any other PS3 exclusive characters that fit.
