Mortal Kombat's next installment will feature the God of War himself. You read right, Kratos will be a playable character in the upcoming Mortal Kombat game. As you may have guessed, he will be a PS3 exclusive.
Ed Boon is looking to revamp the Moral Kombat series after the lack-luster performance of Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe. One of the major issues with MK vs DC was the glaring omission of gratuitous violence. I think I speak for everyone when I say that Kratos knows a thing or two about over-the-top gore. Kratos will have his own combat moves, fatalities, and even his own arena.
The official announcement will appear in January's Official PlayStation Magazine. It hits shelves later this week. The article confirms his addition to the game but denies that Kratos will be a playable character in story-mode.
This confirmation is great news for Mortal Kombat fans and even better news for PS3 owners. But it doesn't take much guess-work to wonder if an Xbox 360 exclusive character will be announced too. We've seen this before after all, like with Soul Calibur 4. The PS3 version had Darth Vader as a playable character and the Xbox 360 version had Yoda. Epic's Cliff Bleszinski has already gone on twitter to toss Clay Carmine's name in the mix. Which Xbox 360 character do you think should join Mortal Kombat?
Look for Mortal Kombat in Spring 2011 for the PS3 and Xbox 360.

Gears of War is the obvious choice or Master Chief for the simple fact that the 360 is a Exclusive Shooter Game console. Besides, We've already seen Marcus and Dom on Lost Planet! The only compatible character that I can think of is Dante from Dante's Inferno! He's really a hand to hand fighter and wouldn't really seem out of place with the MK cast.

It's been said before that the new Mortal Kombat will be one of the most violent in the series, so with that in mind, Kratos will definitely fit right it.

I don't know why people are complaining about how MK has been "tarnished". Like seriously if you don't like the fact that Kratos is in the game then don't pick him when you play...ever. Just because some people think it ruins the game doesn't mean it isn't a good move. Kratos is a PERFECT fit for a character in the MK universe. Companies do this to gain the competitive edge over one another. Just like the joker in Batman:Arkham Asylum was ps3 exclusive. This is basically a bonus to make people who are so rich they can afford over 9000 xboxes and a ps3 to lean towards the ps3. (I apologize for the xbox joke, I know they work now, I just had to throw that in) ^^

i say if they use someone from the Halo series they should use Emile. the one with the skull on his helmet from Halo Reach. because he looks cool and hes a badass he killed 3 or 4 elites after being stabed by an energy sword and that should of killed him instantly.
since they are doing this with bonus characters in mortal kombat they should just make them unlockable or hidden characters because if they make it like they are suppose to be main characters in the game it will loose the mortal kombat feel to the game. MK used to be a stand alone game with no outside influence from other games they never had a vs. game until the dc one and they shouldnt of done that considering that DC wouldnt let them do fatalities. i just hope that what ever they decide to do will be awesome and that they make this the best Mortal Kombat game ever and make it a contender for the best fighting game ever because it deffinately deserves that much.

I'm just wondering who the XBOX character is gonna be for the new Mortal Kombat game I hope that ever they put in the game is a good choice because kratos is gonna be hard to beat I'm a loyal XBOX fan but sony might have a good system I still think the XBOX is still the better system in my eyes so XBOX please make a good choice.

well there goes the idea of this new mortal kombat being perfect. Who cares if it has stupid characters that have nothing to do with the mortal kombat series in it? It just makes it less of a mortal kombat game and more of a joke. Sure vader and yoda were attention grabbing for soul calibur but they certainly didn't make the game any better. Are they going to release mk on ps3 with kratos on the cover? I think this is a stupid idea (not as stupid as mk vs dc) but stupid. It'd be fine if they release 2 versions of the game, one untarnished MK9 and some sort of limited edition for anyone that actually thinks this is cool.

i could see master chief but it's more probable someone from Gears of War. it can't be characters from 3rd publishers, people! why would they give permission to their IP if it's not going to make them money and also might hurt their image. yes, there was yoda and Darth vader in soul Caliber but that was from a 3rd party developer. it has to be from 1st or 2nd party developers so it has to be from Halo or GoW...

I dont see how a GoW character is suiting for this game. They have no fighting abilities besides shooting guns. They would be dumb characters in a fighting game.

Master Chief? Really? Do you guys honestly think Microsoft wants their flagship character beheaded all over the internet? The only thing that makes any sense is a Gears of War character but that still wouldn't top Kratos.
