X-Play Game Of The Year 2010 Nominees Announced

We've spent the last 12 months playing every major game released, and today, we're ready to reveal the nominees for 2010's Game of the Year. These are the best video games of 2010 and we're giving out 21 awards for great games this year, including Best Shooter, Most Original Game, Best RPG, Best Sports Game, Best Multiplayer and of course the coveted Game of the Year!

The winners will be revealed in a special one-hour X-Play special to be broadcast on G4 on Tuesday, December 14 at 6PM, so make sure to mark your calendar.

yes, G4, we are all aware that you new years day is in May, and you end of the year is Dec. 31. But please, try not to make it so obvious you go into hibernation between january and april every single year.

Last year you forgot about Killzone 2, this year you are ignoring Super Mario Galaxy 2.

Can't believe REACH isn't gonna win anything but Soundtrack probably. And It MIGHT win Multiplayer. The last of the series and it went out with a bang.

The guy who reviewed and said that NBA 2K11 would be a strong contender for game of the year sure wasn't kidding. And how is Epic Mickey better then Super Mario Galaxy 2?
Metacritic Scores:
Epic mickey=73 (or something around there)
Super Mario Galaxy 2=97
pretty big difference don't you think?
I say replace Epic mickey and NBA 2K11 with Super Mario Galaxy 2 and God of War 3 and it would be perfect.

I think G4 loves 2be hated and like at the same time because finally G4 give some credit to Naruto, but than they go and not have GOW3 as one of the GOTY nominees. WTF!!! G4 EPIC FAIL!!!!

Why are most games released at the beginning of the year neglected?

Even thought I dont play it that much cuz the MP is unbalanced for the time being, my vote for GOTY goes towards SC2.

The Game Nominees Listed for "2010 Game of the Year" are totally Insane and Wrong :

Assassin's Creed might come in third if it's lucky, Disney's Epic Mouse Mess is not even close to the Wii DK Country Return, and both NBA 2K11 and Red Dead Redemption should never have made the list.

Care to try again G4TV ! I'll give you a hint " GOW3 " and it's counter part on the " PSP ", have first or second positions in my books.

GOTY should atleast be something with great replayability allowing multiple/different experiences, and also not have repetive gameplay at the same time.

To me they should be thought as if you were to only buy one game a year, what would you get the most out of for that entire year. Out of that list 2 maybe 3(havn't played AC yet) of those even qualify for that.

Can't really see myself being able to play Epic Mickey, NBA2k11, or SC2 (online aside) and only one of those for a year straight.

ALAN WAKE and DEADLY PREMONITION both had better soundtracks than NIER and HALO: REACH.

DEADLY PREMONITION had better win the most original game category. There is no competition.

Pretty good list. My only two complaints are that Joe Danger isn't up for best Download game and that Heavy Rain isn't up for best soundtrack.

I think it's funny how Fable 3 isn't listed once and G4 loved Fable 2 in 2008. It beat Fallout 3 for gods sake!

Anyway, I hope Mass Effect, Limbo, and Red Dead Redemption will clean house.

Now the wait is on till "L.A. Noire" and "Portal 2"

GOTY: close call between DEM and AC:Brohood, not sure about mass effect 2.
best innovation: 3-way ties w/ kinect, heavy rain and rock band pro mode.
best multiplayer:ACreed:Brohood, multiplayer like that is not inanyothergame.
Best action/adventure game: DEM
Best FPS Bioshock 2
that' about it most of these other games i have not played so i should not vote.

Once again Kingdom Hearts gets shafted for at least one award. I was hoping it would at least be nominated for best soundtrack...... Oh well EPIC MICKEY FTW!!!

Solid stuff but seriously... Epic Mickey and NBA 2k11 for GoTY???? Fooking absurd. Like completely ridiculous honestly. I expect RDR or Mass Effect to win GoTY. I'm rooting for RDR.

i'm sorry im not saying epic mickey isn't a good game i'm saying it's been out for what 3 weeks and the only reason it made g4's list is because it is fresh in their heads. plus that death match stuff was in house g4 staff crap.
just rememder when you let other people's opinion judge a game for you, you are a sheep.
but i do respect g4's opinion even if they are wrong.
