The President of Sony Online Entertainment, John Smedley, confirmed The Agency has been delayed due to it needing "a lot of work." Sony's big budget spy-genre MMO was originally anticipated for this year. It's now expected in the second half of 2011. Smedley assured Kotaku The Agency is still in the works despite the delay.
The Agency is a MMO-shooter being developed by Sony Online Entertainment. The game was originally announced back in 2007. In the game you play as a spy in one of two factions, The United Nations Intelligence and Tactical Experts (U.N.I.T.E) or The Paramilitary Global Operations Network (ParaGON). U.N.I.T.E. has a more stealth approach to world domination while ParaGON prefers to blow things up. Both admirable in my professional opinion.
Over a year ago we posted our first impressions of the game and we weren't disappointed with what we saw. The Agency takes inspiration from the spy-films we know and love, think lots of Ian Fleming. Unlike what you might expect from a typical MMORPG, there are no elves, rather there are mansions, secret lairs and super-villains. Oh and did we mention there will be sharks with frickin’ lasers on their heads.
The Agency sounds like an impressive offering to the world of MMOs. Do you plan on playing it?
The Agency is expected sometime in the latter half of 2011 for the PlayStation 3 and the PC.

I been waiting for this game since 2007, because I always wanted to try I MMO game but I am not into elves and etc... So come on 2011!!!!

Gotta agree with everyone else on this one. It looked pretty blah to begin with. I was never interested in this 2 years ago when I first heard about it and 2 years later it sounds even worse. I have a bad feeling years of work is going to go wasted on this game because who is really that interested in this type of game? I doubt the market that is there is big enough for this game to make a profit. They also need to start getting people talking about this game and in a positive way soon otherwise they really wont stand a chance even more so on top of what I was saying.

I had totally forgotten about this....wasn't really looking forward to be honest. I could be playing DC Universe Online right now had it not been for a delay. That's the game I'm waiting on and I won't have to wait much longer

it looks interesting enough to play, but really need to see the gameplay works out in the end, and how you will be upgrading everything to see if it is actually worth playing
