Zynga's latest browser game, CityVille, recruited 290,000 residents in the game's first 24 hours, making it Zynga's most successful game launch. FrontierVille only had 116 thousand players in its first 24 hours; how embarrassing.
CityVille can be described as FarmVille meets Sim City. The nearly 300,00 people playing have built 2.7 million residences, 500,00 bakeries, 5 million sections of road, and 25% have set up franchises in their friends' boards. At this rate, CityVille could pass FrontierVille's current 6.5 million monthly players. If you're one of the people playing let us know, we promise we won't tell anyone.
