Morning Hangover: What Did You Play This Weekend?

Forza 3 World Class DLC Pack Now Available

You know what I played this weekend? Forza 3! The release of Gran Turismo 5 has me really into racing games, and I thought I'd give F3 a shot. It's a pretty amazing game, but it's no GT5. It's interesting how each game takes a different approach to the problems inherent in creating a realistic driving simulator: Mainly that driving a high-performance car in "real" race is too difficult to be fun for 98% of the population.

Picking GT5 over Forza 3, Stephen?!? You're going to start a console war yet again with these people!

Kirby's Epic Yarn, it's a decent collect-em-up that was well worth the rental! But it's WAY too short (92% complete in under 13 hours)!

I reactivated another month of WoW - and yes, I got sucked in. My Forsaken Character is now level 17 and my Undercity Reputation is revered. For a reason.

I finished Bioshock 2 and got about half way through Enslaved. After I finish that, it''s on to Ghostbusters.

For me personally, the extreme difficultly of driving such realistic cars is what makes the game so great. I am not sure how many people feel the same way I do but there is no other feeling out there that you get when you successfully tame the beast of a car. When you know you can kill your race at any second by braking just a fraction of a second late is unspeakably intoxicating. Or when you can really feel the tiniest bump at 150+mph could spin your car out of control at an second. Which GT5 is the only game that truly exhibits this nature.

This is why games like Hot Pursuit highly disappoint me, there is no difficulty change between driving 10mph and 250mph which actually makes the game feels on-rails like I am driving a train! Whats more surprising was Burnout Paradise actually did an excellent job at arcade racing and still keeping the challenge of driving while HP could not.

Was playing Bayonetta this weekend for the first time... fun game! Reminds me of old school beat em ups like Final Fight or Streets of Rage. Not to heady, but still loads of fun.
