First of all, I have to admit that the success of World of Warcraft has been astounding. As a fan of Warcraft 2 and 3, I was a little skeptical about how the lore would successfully change to a completely different genre. The amount of content and depth to the game is remarkable. However, there is one issue that I have with the game, and most MMOs to this point: the storytelling. It feels like many of the players who play these games are not nearly as invested in every quest or the characters behind it. Many players are just skipping the text and only care about what they must do to level up or get the quest reward. There is not an emotional attachment that exists in many single-player RPGs. How do you think quests and the storytelling of MMORPGs can be more immersive and interesting for the player, and do you think developers need to focus on this aspect more?

I was interested in Fallout: New Vegas since the first teaser because I have lived in Vegas for many years. Unlike other games such as Fallout 3 and the Assassin's Creed games that presented different real locations, this game struck me on a personal level. I was able to direct my character across the map and see where I used to work or live and went places that I go to every day, which was fun in a rather creepy sort of way. I know that this kind of experience currently isn't feasible for all gamers, but could you see this in the future of gaming where someone can experience a customized/personal locale for a given storyline? Also, would that be a worthwhile direction to take gaming?

Sorry, this isn't a question, and it is terribly inappropriate. It was however a topic of conversation on a recent episode of feedback. I present the dong-swastika.

To Alex Afrasiabi and Tom Chilton,
First off, job well done. Cataclysm is fantastic. How did you two end up in the game industry? and at blizzard? Feedback crew, feel free to explain how you all got into the industry as well! As a teenage nerd, (and proud!), is there any advice in terms of college or things i could do now to get a head start on getting into the industry? I'm a freshman in high school as of now, learning the beginning levels of java, and planning on being either a programmer or an animator! What are big things you notice in people being hired at Blizzard Alex and Tom? Any specific degrees or approaches to things? Is there much I can do now to help me in the future? Thanks guys! Terrific job on the game again Alex and Tom!

To Alex Afrasiabi,
First off, job well done. Cataclysm is fantastic. I was just wondering, in your opinion, what would be the most entertaining position to occupy in the development of a game? Use Cataclysm as an example. Who's job would you enjoy having, if not your own? What are the pros and cons of being lead world designer?

How art thou Fair Maiden(s) and Gent(s) of Feedback, my question is regarding the next generation of game hard copies, I think instead of Disc we will see every game on a usb stick that way if we remove the disc drive consoles could be every smaller which is great for Japan and by 2013 or so hard drives should be cheap enough that game should be able to go back down to $50 or at least stay at $60. It's the logical progression from cartridge to disc to usb stick right? Also what do youse guys think of tier pricing for games a game like Halo or COD of course could go at $60 but what about games like Vanquish, Nail'd or Create being in the $35-50 range. Any ways thanks for ya'lls time and keep up the good work , have a great day.

Dear Feedback Team,
It seems to me that throughout most of my gaming life that i have listened to very little of the actual music or sounds in many of my games. Sure i could recognize some of the more predominant music, mostly from console games, and there are some games that you have to listen too to know whats going on. But, for the rest of the games I play, the first thing i seem to do is turn on the subtitles and turn off the music and sounds in favor of my favorite music.
My question is: How much of a game's enjoyment value are the in-game sounds and music, especially seeing as it's such an easy option to manipulate.

Like many gamers I have loved every second, minute, hour, day, week, month, and year I played WoW. However when Wrath of the Lich King came out I decided to cancel my account rather then play any longer.
Like wise I have loved hearing about and imagining playing the new expansion when it comes out but as soon as contemplate reactivating my account, I lose my enthusiasm.
I know there could be many reasons I can't put my finger on that range from 'the hours a 'day' that have to be spent to keep up with l33t guilds/players or you can't even get into most of the fun content', 'other free to play models are more financial appealing in this up & down economy', or 'Is Wow just too old hat/familiar to hold my interest any longer'.
It does seem from the new expansion that Blizzard does want to change things up to make things different for the players who have been playing for a day but is that enough to keep the WoW power house going for much longer as "the" dominate MMO or over all game played by the masses?
I ask that you consider this question after removing the OCD tendency that many of us gamers (and more so with MMO players) seem to have. After all there are people I know who still play Ever Quest and outwardly twitch when you tell them that they need to move on to playing something else or not playing at all. That doesn't mean EQ is a good game any more.

WoW keeps getting updates and expansions, which is commendable and definitely helps keep the game fresh. At this point is it all just to keep your present players interested? I guess what I'm getting at is, does Blizzard even think about how to get more players or have you accepted the fact that everyone who wants to play WoW already does?

Do you think that a current-gen Mmo-anything will be possible for console gamers. the reason I ask this is because as an avid console gamer it's hard to ignore the level of bullying, abusive language, racism, and other wise unaccountable indecency that comes standard with a PS3/Xbox360 headset. Now this isnt as much a problem with the ussual "play agame win\lose go to a new game" set up, but what happens when everyone is playing on a massive dedicated server. Pc mmo's get past this by being mostly text driven, and having an abundence of censors, I'm simply worried that it will degrade into a giant interactive hate forrum.
DarthPokingStick
I'd just like to know what some of your favourite MMOs that have come out after World of Warcraft showed the industry that such a massive game is possible.
Sincerely, Darth Poking Stick

With big franchises such as Devil May Cry and Lara Croft being rebooted into DMC and Tomb Raider respectively, coupled with the onslaught of sequels we have had for the past few years, are major game developers almost completely leaving creativity and original IPs to the Indie developers? Do you think downloadable games are going to become the "testing phase" for original IPs to become full fledged games?

Dear Feedback cast,
I've noticed that home gaming systems tend to change less then portable games. ((excluding the new xbox360 which is not that different then the normal one and the different color WII's, God forbid we don't have a red WII)) For Nintendo and Sony the bulk of their income is from their home gaming systems, why do we not see more innovation to the PS3 and the WII when they are bringing in the big money for these companies?
your fan,
This guy!

what is with activision share holders trying to put a fee on their online gameplay. how do you feel about the idea for pay-to-play for FPS games and would you still be willing to play online for a fee?

As a long time player of world of warcraft i have expirienced the high's and the low's of the game. my question involves the raiding aspect of wow at the moment we have 3 dungeons avaliable to us on cataclysm launch. this model is very much similar to the style of raiding in burning crusade and was widely accepted from the raiding community ( people i have asked and seen on forums) as the best idea for raiding to date because you would never really burn from doing the same place constantly till new content. will cataclysm see this style of raiding dungeons or will blizzard stick to the tried and true single dungeon per raid content patch?
