Ubisoft has launched a new iPhone app for its personalized in-game achievements system Uplay. The app lest you keep track of and manage the units (aka achievement points) you’ve earned from completing certain “actions” in a variety of Uplay supported Ubisoft titles such as Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood and Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction.
The free Uplay app, which you can download over at the Apple App Store, doesn’t support all of the functions found on the Uplay site, like Share and Shop, but those features are “coming soon.” However, you can put your units towards winning prizes (i.e. console themes, exclusive character outfits and levels, etc.), and access the Uplay help section if you find yourself stuck on a particular puzzle or challenge.
It’s still a little strange to have a separate achievements system on top of the ones already available on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, but it’s still a smart move on Ubisoft’s part, given how obsessive people have become when it comes to their Achievements/Trophies. Plus, it’s always good to earn free stuff for playing games. Now, if only “free stuff” meant loyalty, respect, and/or knighthood, then you’d really have something. Get on that, will ya?
