Sega has announced a new squad-based shooter, Binary Domain. The game is being created by Toshihiro Nagoshi. He is responsible for other well-known Sega series including the Yakuza franchise.

Binary Domain promises to put players in the middle of an action-packed, fast paced battle for humanity. It takes place in 2080 as robots are invading Tokyo. There are many copies. And they have a plan. Wait, no, wrong franchise. You play as the members of a peace-keeping squad who are questioning who is more machine, robots or humans?

Toshihiro Nagoshi wanted to make a game that both Japanese and Western audiences could appreciate. The thread that holds us together? Science fiction.

“What I wanted to create this time was a dramatic and energetic sci-fi shooter. When you hear sci-fi you may think of cold, clinical environments but with Binary Domain I wanted to combine this with a deep human drama," Nagoshi said.

Binary Domain will be released on the Xbox 360 and PS3.

That made me want to give up video games. Thank god I have good shooters to go play. I agree with BONERJAM, I have no faith in Sega. They can hardly make a good Sonic the Hedgehog game anymore.

Sega need to make a fighting game.
