By popular demand, we are putting Polyphony Digital's Gran Turismo 5 up against Turn 10 Studios' Forza Motorsport 3 to find out which takes the title as the ultimate driving simulator. GT5 claims to bring photorealistic graphics to the track, but is that true? Does Forza 3, which came out last year, still lead in graphics and driving physics? After watching our comparison video, which game stands out to you?

There really is no comparison here.Forza 3 blows gt5 out of the water like it was nothing,in every category.If you want something that is old school that hasn't evolved a bit then keep buying that trash cause gt6 is going to be the same thing while the other companies keep coming up with awsome ideas and games!

all i have to say is, in FORZA 3 u can design your car how ever you like not to mention the auction menu u can trade cars, sell, and buy now that's cool

GT5 has more better graphics, and realistic gameplay except for damage they could've done that better and yet they still should've done a little better car reactions (gameplay)for 6 years, its expected more since it took them longer to make, still my vote goes to GT5

I don't think these games compare at all. GT is a simulation and let's face it, if someone had to choose between a flight simulator that deals with thrust, yaw, pitch, altitude, wing span and wind direction or had a chance to play Afterburner I think most would choose the latter. Not that simulations don't have their place. I'm not an RTS or JRPG type of player but my friend loves them. I'd just assume play God of War than Starcraft.
As for graphics, I think it's clear that GT wins. Weather effects, night time racing, dust and dirt from the rally car racing as well as insane amounts of detail on the "premium" cars; I think it's clear that GT takes the best graphics category easily.
And this comparison is bad anyway. Using what is arguably the ugliest track in GT and comparing it to Forza is bad form.

Your comparing Granny Smith apples to Fuji apples. Sure some are better for baking but... THEIR APPLES! Chevy v. Ford? Infinity v. Acura? Taylormade v Titlest? Bridgestone v. Yokohama? Kindle v. Nook? Yeah... Easy winner here..

For having spent time on both games, I came to this obvious conclusion:
Forza 3 looks like an arcade game. Cars looks more like they're from an arcade game and so does the landscape modeling. Colors are bright, and the texture work looks overdone, making things like mountain look more like they're from a game like Daytona USA in comparison to GT5 which looks a lot more life like.
GT5 cars look much more impressive mostly because of the intricate lighting effects. Because when it comes to actual models, the polygon count on cars, both games are pretty similar.
As far as I'm concerned, GT5 looks better for the only reason that it looks more life like, compared to Forza 3.

I prefer forza, And yes it is a simulation not an arcade. as close to the real thing as your probabbly gonna get, they spent alot of time doing the cars in the game. and being able to use my fanatic racing wheel with working clutch and 6 speed shifter makes for a real fun and realistic experience. but thats just my opinion.

Alright, I hate the fact that people refer to Forza as an arcade game. In an arcade game you have pretty much stock cars, with a nitro button and either an automatic or manual 4 speed transmission. In Forza you can choose from three tranny types, automatic, manual, and clutch manual.. Not to mention you can add or disable assists if you like. For me I play with all assists off with a clutch manual tranny because that is literally the most realistic way to race. In game you press up on the D-Pad and there is a dyno telling you how much boost you're pushing and how much horsepower you have, along with torque, tire friction, suspension, your body acceleration, the temperature; pressure; wear; and camber of your tires, and the amount of damage your car has taken. If you still think Forza is an arcade game than you are an idiot.
