New Super Mario Bros. Wii Sells 4 Million Units In Japan, Sets Record

New Super Mario Bros. Wii has become the first Wii game to sell 4 million copies in Japan. The game will have been out one year on December 3. New Super Mario Bros. Wii also holds the record for fastest selling Wii game in Japan. A quarter of the game's sales were made in its first week of release.
 
According to Enterbrain, which collects data from all over Japan, New Super Mario Bros. Wii had sold 4,001,276 copies as of November 28. Nintendo has sold 10.8 million Wii consoles in Japan, meaning approximately 37 percent, or one in three Wii owners bought New Super Mario Bros. too. Nintendo has been celebrating Mario and his 25th anniversary on the consoles with a special red Wii console bundle that comes with a copy of New Super Mario Bros. Wii.
