Disney Epic Mickey Fails To Make Impact On UK Charts
Disney Epic Mickey has failed to make an impact in the UK, at least so far. Disney and Junction Point Studio's collaboration didn't just fail to make it to the Top 10 in terms of sales, it barely squeaked into the Top 40, sitting at number 39.

Video games are ranked on the Top 40 All-Formats Chart in the UK. Currently, Gran Turismo 5 is number one. On the Wii-only chart Disney Epic Mickey only made it to the 11th spot.

Why do you think Epic Mickey, despite stellar reviews, hasn't been successful in the UK? Do you think American sales are going to be higher than the British numbers?

wait the US chart. Epic Mickey has 200.000 preorders in USA. it will sell about 300.000 copies in his first week. This game will become a million seller.

I'm sure a lot of people in the UK would want to buy the game but they do not have a Wii. And buying a Wii for just this game is not something everybody can or will do. I think it's fresh. We rarely see a game such as this. If I only had a Wii I would definitely buy it.

Maybe the developer should have made it for the Xbox and PS3 so to get more sales. I want to buy Epic Mickey but I don't have a Wii.

Just cause it doesn't sell doesn't mean it isn't good. I don't even think Ico & Shadow COMBINES crack 1.5 million sales but developer of the game that was voted "Best Playstation Game Ever" said, "Ico & Shadow" are the best game ever.

Living in the UK I was not even aware that this game was out here yet.

I have not seen a singe tv or print ad for the game nor any window displays in the local games stores. This might have an impact on sales, will probably pick up towards chrismas, what with thanksgiving and black friday not being a thing over here.

Well, all I can say is that Epic Mickey is the only non black Friday deal new game I'm allowing myself to buy anytime in the near future. And I only bought two black Friday games, Dragon Quest for both the hubbie and me on the DS and Need for Speed game for the PS3 for just me because I don't have any decent racing games for the PS3. Actually I'm picking up my preorder today when the hubbie gets back.

So what?! O_O It's the UK... As long as I get to play it here in the US I couldn't care less how it does on the other side of the pond. How about stats on how it's doing over here? I agree that a lot of people want it to fail but there are also those that want it to be awesome <--- ME! It's on my to play list... even if it's on the Wii.

Nothing about this game really excites me. I really don't see enough cool stuff in this game to justify its massive hype.

Has anyone thought about the fact that the game has been out for FOUR days? Two of those days were saturday and sunday.

And among a hugely anticipated release like GT5 and tons of black friday sales I think it's no surprise that a new, Wii-exclusive title that doesn't look like a dumbed down party game on first glance is not making huge numbers ...in it's first four days over the weekend!

well disney is not really big over there despite disney being a very popular and powerful company. even on the UK page someone wrote that disney isn't really a big thing over there. and anyway give it time people!!!! it seems like people kinda want this game to fail o_0. im sure it will sell..but slowly. and in the USA.. it was said that it has 196k pre orders and expect to sell at least 250K first week..sooooo yea.

I think it's because the wii is seen as a kids console. Mickey mouse is a kids character, no matter how 'adult' you dress it. To be honest it was this or Assassins creed on 360. Guess which I chose?

Sorry for the double post, but the article seems a bit sketchy. They offer no link to the actual numbers or sales chart. It appears to be a 360 site, at least all the news is about 360 stuff. And it was posted on G4 by the biggest Wii hater/Microsoft fangirl at G4. I am sure Steve Johnson would have passed on this story. I don't want to get all X-files on everyone, but something is not adding up.

That's a real shame I agree with gambit because it's a wii exclusive and besides parents maybe buying for their young kids alot of people won't rush out to buy it. I think it will do well but nowhere near as good as it deserves.

Stellar reviews? If I recall, only G4 gave it a perfect score.

    @gambit1023

LOL! It failed because it is on the most popular console this generation? Doesn't sound like a very smart argument. Also there are plenty of hardcore players who like their Wii. We just quietly enjoy our console instead of whining about the other consoles like the other two console owners. But I guess they have a lot more free time. :)

I personally own all three consoles and enjoy them all for different reasons.
