Guns N' Roses' Axl Rose Sues Activision Blizzard
Guns N' Roses lead singer Axl Rose is suing Activision Blizzard to the tune of $20 million dollars. What did the makers of Guitar Hero do wrong to deserve such an expensive lawsuit? Axl claims that Activision violated their deal by including the likeness of former Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash. I'm as disgusted as you are, folks.

According to the lawsuit filed last Tuesday in Los Angeles Superior Court, Activision Blizzard convinced Axl to authorize the use of "Welcome to the Jungle" under the strict condition that no references were made to Saul Hudson, aka Slash. The hit song from Guns N' Roses was featured in Guitar Hero III.

When Axl found out that a Slash-like character would be included in the game, as well as songs from Slash's current band Velvet Revolver, he immediately rescinded his agreement to include "Welcome to the Jungle" in the game. Activision then allegedly assured Axl those were only being used for a trade show.

When Guitar Hero 3 was finally released Axl was again unhappy with what he saw, noticing the box art featured "an animated depiction of Slash, with his signature black top hat, long dark curly hair, dark sunglasses and nose-piercing." To add to his list of complaints, "Sweet Child O'Mine" was used in an online promotion for Guitar Hero 3, despite only being licensed for use in Guitar Hero 2.

Activision Blizzard has not commented on the case.

If what Axl claims is true does he deserve a $20 million dollar apology?

Hey maybe if Axl bankrupts Activision they'll sell Call of Duty to a studio that can produce it decently.

Even if Axl and Activision came to such an agreement, I'm sure Activision covered its bases with loopholes and legalese. I doubt this was a single page contract that Mr. Rose signed.

Well if these allegations are true and Activision really did take advantage of the contract, then yea I think Axle or whoever has creative rights to Guns and Roses should get the money. Activision can't take a marketable trademark like guns and roses and just run with it. If the roles were reversed I'm sure Activision would have sued a long time ago.

Wow... if they were REAL artists and not BIG ASS babies why would they even care if one of their songs was on a video game that millions of people are going to play?? They need to find better things to do like actually make a song to earn their million dollar paychecks instead of ripping off a video game.. no life douchebags

Give Axle a $20 and a shot of heroin and he will forget about the whole thing.
