Mark "Marky Mark" Wahlberg has confirmed that he will be playing Nathan Drake in the upcoming movie based on PS3 video game Uncharted. The movie, being headed by Three Kings director David O. Russel, will definitely star Wahlberg, but it may have some other big names as well.
Speaking to MTV, Wahlberg said: "I'm obviously in whatever David wants to do but the idea of it is so off the charts: De Niro being my father, Pesci being my uncle. It's not going to be the watered-down version, that's for sure."
Both Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci have been approached about playing members of Drake's family, although, in Hollywood terms, that doesn't mean too much.
While it's nice that that quality actors and directors are potentially attached to an Uncharted movie, and even higher quality actors are considering starring, I'm not overly excited, because if this movie ever actually gets made, it will suck. All movies based on video games suck. They have always sucked. No matter how cool they sound before they're made, they suck. SUCK!

This has fail written all over it. Despite the fact that Wahlberg is a poor choice for the lead, the budget on this would have to be huge to get the same scale and feel to the game. How can movies expect to condense a 6-8 hour game into a 2 hour movie. Sure, a lot of time is shaved off from fighting and what not but I think I speak for everyone when I say a good fight scene is better than Marky Mark chewing scenery.
There is no way this movie can come close to game experience. Hollywood is going to chew it up and spit out some bastardization that will upset the fans. Somebody call "Prince of Persia" and tell him to make room in the bargain bin, he's about to have a new friend.

God. I'm all for an Uncharted Movie. But please, anyone besides "Marky Mark" Next thing you know, the bad guys will be played buy the Funky Bunch. Nathan Fillion all the way!

Nathan Fillion, IMO, looks to old to be Drake. I also don't think Marky Mark will be a great lead actor but who knows. I just hope this doesn't get what I like to call the Prince of Persia Treatment, meaning it's horribly casted and not really enjoyable at all.

I liked wahlberg in a few of his supporting roles but I cant think of any starring roles where he didnt seem "blah" as stated above

Nathan Fillion is perfect!!! Wahlberg is so... blah. On the bright side, perhaps Nathan Drake will talk to animals.
