'Uncharted 2: Among Thieves' Multiplayer Hands-On Preview

Mark "Marky Mark" Wahlberg has confirmed that he will be playing Nathan Drake in the upcoming movie based on PS3 video game Uncharted. The movie, being headed by Three Kings director David O. Russel, will definitely star Wahlberg, but it may have some other big names as well.

Speaking to MTV, Wahlberg said: "I'm obviously in whatever David wants to do but the idea of it is so off the charts: De Niro being my father, Pesci being my uncle. It's not going to be the watered-down version, that's for sure."

Both Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci have been approached about playing members of Drake's family, although, in Hollywood terms, that doesn't mean too much.

While it's nice that that quality actors and directors are potentially attached to an Uncharted movie, and even higher quality actors are considering starring, I'm not overly excited, because if this movie ever actually gets made, it will suck. All movies based on video games suck. They have always sucked. No matter how cool they sound before they're made, they suck. SUCK!

Wow. "The Happening" guy? Really! That movie was horrible. Not even Zoey D could save that film.

Mark Wahlberg's definitely got the acting chops for it, but doesn't necessarily look like Nathan Drake. But overall, I think it's a good choice, maybe not the best choice (cause I kinda think Nathan Fillion should've got this), but a good choice none the less. Only thing that's worrysome about it is that the last movie he did based on a video game "Max Payne" was a really average movie that many said did not stay true to the original game. But I'm giving this one the benefit of the doubt, seeing as how this a Sony property being handled by Sony, and if they know what's good for em, they don't screw this up. But if Robert De Niro is cast as Victor "God Damn" Sullivan, then this definitely gains a lot of credibility, because he could easily pull off the role. As far as Joe Peschi, I think he could easily play the villain. Cause he kinda looks like em. Only question would be is who plays the one guy that takes over his operation once Joe Peschi's character is killed by the curse? *potential spoiler* I think this has definitely got some promise to it, so I'm not quite ready to basically declare it dead on arrival like sir Stephen Johnson has.

I'M A PEACOCK, YOU GOTTA LET ME FLY.
Anyways, I'm actually really disappointed Bruce Campbell wasn't casted as Sully. De Niro looks like he's always uncomfortable in comedyish type films.

Does it really matter? I mean, what true gamer actually goes out and sees movie adaptations of video games? Don't get me wrong, this is my favorite franchise of games, but even if Nathan Fillion was Nathan Drake I wouldn't see it. Like the guy who wrote the article said: "All movies based on video games suck. They have always sucked."

One word. Suck. I still would have preferred Nathan Fillion.

I like Mark, but he is not right for this movie. This was a terrible casting decision. Absolutely ridiculous. Nathan Fillion was perfect for it, and the director ignored him so he could give the part to his friend, Mark. Awful.

Sheesh Stephen, not all VG movies suck, it's just most of them are mediocre like Prince of Persia. The only really good one is probably Mortal Kombat.

I cast my vote for Nathan Fillion or Nolan North, this part should be played by someone thats not just good looking and charming (in that way that Nathan Fillion is), but someone whose witty and can fill Drake's shoes. As far as I can see, this movie will probably leave just as much to be desired as any other video game inspired romp.

I don't know why I still get surprised when studios don't listen to the people who will be buying the tickets.

I'm sure someone will start an online petition to get NF on board!

Well this news is depressing. While on paper Wahlberg looks like a solid actor, he doesn't have the comedic timing nor the charm of Nathan Drake. I'm cool with De Niro, but as Sully, not some unknown father that we've never seen nor heard of before.

I'm worried they will try to turn this into Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (which I vote as worst the the 4th one) in the jungle. The magic of Uncharted is juxtaposing the Borderline ineptitude of Drake with the ridiculously high octane situations he finds himself in all laced over ample luck and humor.

I don't see that from what is being proposed so far. I'm guessing we get another generic treasure hunting flick like National Treasure.

Why not just use Nolan North? He's a far better pick than MM...

i just have a problem believing mark can pull off the climbing aspects. if they were gonna try for a 'pretty boy' they coulda gone with matt damon .. or hell i know i'ma get flamed for this, but leonardo dicaprio would even fit the roll better then mark. i mean rly... did anyone see blood diamond or inception ?

Another wasted chance at finally having an above average video game based movie... How can anyone not see that Nathan Fillion was perfect for this role. The looks and the smart ass attitude.

I agree Nathan million would have been a better choice. It should be directed by naughty dog if after the they built uncharted like it were a movie instead of a sci-fi game so it could work.
