Mark "Marky Mark" Wahlberg has confirmed that he will be playing Nathan Drake in the upcoming movie based on PS3 video game Uncharted. The movie, being headed by Three Kings director David O. Russel, will definitely star Wahlberg, but it may have some other big names as well.
Speaking to MTV, Wahlberg said: "I'm obviously in whatever David wants to do but the idea of it is so off the charts: De Niro being my father, Pesci being my uncle. It's not going to be the watered-down version, that's for sure."
Both Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci have been approached about playing members of Drake's family, although, in Hollywood terms, that doesn't mean too much.
While it's nice that that quality actors and directors are potentially attached to an Uncharted movie, and even higher quality actors are considering starring, I'm not overly excited, because if this movie ever actually gets made, it will suck. All movies based on video games suck. They have always sucked. No matter how cool they sound before they're made, they suck. SUCK!

I thought this one pretty much casted itself Fillion who was practicly begging to be Drake,Emily Rose could probably pull off Elena again and Jk Simmons in it he would be a perfect Sully.

Wahlberg is a fine actor, but he's not the right fit for Nathan Drake. I agree with most people here: Fillion.

Mark Wahlberg R u people serious hes good but he aint no Drake! Nathan Fillion was the 1 only choice in my eyes to play this role hes is PERFECT!! These people need to wake up and case him already and fire Mark or else this movie will really suck!! NATHAN FILLION ALL THE WAY!!

Why so much hatred for Mark? He is a good actor. Fillion would be a good actor for it but he would have to get into much better shape. Mark will do just fine. He can be funny. It wasn't his fault that Max Payne sucked. This time sony is in charge of there own game and this director has some good credability behind him. You guys are killing a movie off before it even gets off its feet. You all just sound like a bunch of cry babies idiots who flame stupid crap. I think that it will be probably the best movie based on a game. And not all game movie adaptations suck. Hitman was pretty good. only thing they messed with was changing his origin. They stuck to the game fairly well.

Oh come on Hollywood! Why are you going to screw up one of my favorite games? Mark Wahlberg is a decent actor, but by no means a Nathan Drake. Nathan Fillion would have been perfect. Great acting, charm, and humor. I have a feeling this is going to be a catastrophe. :(

dont get me wrong mark wahlberg is a great actor and im a fan...but Nathan Drake...one of my favorite characters of all time....I dont even know what to think about it... he doesn't have that smooth flowing whitty charm you know... I just dont know about this, really hope it works out.

I know that nathan fillion would have been good as nathan drake.beause of his role in firefly almost matchs nathan drake role.but when I heard marky mark was going to be in it I wanted to shoot myself in the haed this is a bad choose for NAUGHTY DOG should put a stop this movie from be made.

I'd punch myself in the dick before even considering watching this movie. Mark was pretty badass is movies like Shooter and The Italian Job, but I doubt he could pull off Drake's witty humor even if its on the script.
The biggest let down about these movies based on game in my opinion, is not only do the actors usually suck wang, but they look NOTHING like the characters in the games. And as someone else posted, 2 hours isn't enough time to make what we got out of the game, into a movie.
I'd props the first person to try and make a movie using Naughty Dogs Uncharted Engine. That has to better then what we've seen so far.

nothing against Wahlberg, but he does fit the bill ,these has to be the worst casting call ever, so if everything get done w/ him that means thier will be no one liners or innuendos. so this Nathan will have the emotional range of a spoon.i was looking so forward to the adaptation of this game to movie, now don't even want to watch it til it's at red-box.

I like Wahlberg as a serious actor but he's not funny at all. Nathan Drake is never serious and makes a joke out of everything. Nathan filion would be perfect for the part. I'm pissed and will not go see this movie!!!!
