Tim Schafer and Double Fine’s latest THQ-published, downloadable title has officially been revealed. It’s called Stacking, and it will be available on PlayStation Network and Xbox Live in spring 2011.
Following on the heels of the delightful downloadable RPG Costume Quest, Stacking has players assuming the role of a Russian doll named Charlie, and, as IGN explains, solving puzzles in the 1930’s inspired open-world by jumping in and out of other characters to take advantage of each character’s unique abilities. In addition, the puzzles will have multiple solutions, which should give the stylish puzzler plenty of replay value.
Based on the reveal trailer, (and the fact that it’s a Double Fine game, I’m definitely intrigued. The visual style and gameplay, like Costume Quest, look totally unique and fresh, and the setting is right up my alley. Thanks a lot, Double Fine! Spring 2011 wasn’t crowded enough with stellar titles?! Sheesh.

I think Tim Shafer is to video games what Tim Burton is too movies.

Oh Tim can we ever predict your next move. I'm going to go with Space monkeys who get lost on mars. Anyone else? No. That's a terrible idea? Ok nevermind.

In the world of video games Tim Schafer does more than most to push the medium.

Surprise, surprise, another weird game from Double Fine. Doesn't look like something I'd normally buy but we'll see.

Very cool. This looks more interesting than Costume Quest and that game looked cool. I never got around to Costume Quest since it came out around the time New Veags, Undead Nightmare and Black Ops all came out.
Spidey47
Well I like Costume Quest so I'll probably get this one too.

Seems like anything by Tim Schaffer is enjoyably odd. Looking forward to what they do next.

Russian Dolls, a 1930's setting and Tim Schaefer? You know it almost makes me glad Brutal Legend failed miserably if it results in games like this and Costume Quest. The downloadable market is the perfect place for Tim and Double Fine, and clips like this just makes me drool for more.
