Cheats and Walkthroughs

Black Ops glitches exist (see the Floating Apple!), so don't let our cavalcade of Call of Duty features fool you that it's a perfect game. It's not; it's incredibly addictive and a blast to play, but CoD is not without its problems. So for once, instead of highlighting the awesome, I'm going to walk us through some nitpicks and problems in my multiplayer sessions. Whether you agree or disagree, I would certainly welcome your thoughts.
Thankfully, Treyarch has responded with a slew of fixes in the Black Ops title update, some of which should address the issues we've had to date...but the rest is just inherent to human behavior.
1. Nobody Shoots Down The F**king Helicopters
The majority of my classes have a Strela-3 on the back. Why? Because there's nothing worse than a Hind or Huey laying waste to your team, and as the title suggests, NO ONE shoots down helicopters. I've played hundreds of games at this point, and I can count on one 3-fingered hand the number of times a teammate shot down a helicopter or even helped shoot one down.
Is it the same logic that keeps a sniper embedded when the enemy is capping a Domination point not to far away? "Someone else will get it. I need to preserve my K/D." Hey, I don't like getting popped in the back either while I'm trying to shoot down a heli, but I'm doing it for the team. Why does this selfish behavior continue exist in CoD BO? Are you guilty of such a sin? Atone!!
2. Jammers Don't Work As Advertised
I play a lot of Domination, as I prefer team-based objective games and playing defensively. As I already mentioned, I shoot down helos, but also I like to use special equipment to aid the team. The Jammer has become a go-to favorite for messing up enemy assaults and keeping key areas safe, with one exception: It doesn't really jam. Yes, it messes up an enemy's minimap and it will mask your unsuppressed fire, and it will nullify C4 and claymores, but it doesn't seem to have any effect on RCXDs, the remote control cars. Shouldn't the point be that if someone drives in a remote-controlled car that it shuts down or goes rogue if it enters a field that's being jammed? What exactly is the jammer "jamming"?
It'd be great to slow down the tide of Hardlined RCXDs, and I was hoping the Jammer would help there...but short of shooting the remote control cars, there's no real way to shut it down. Same should be true of Valkyries. They should either fizzle out or become uncontrollable if they enter that field of influence.

3. What We've Got Here Is A Failure to Communicate
Chatting with your allies is a surefire way to overcome the enemy. Sharing enemy sightings, coordinating flanking maneuvers, or even where you were downed, is a huge boon to intelligence when playing a team game. And knowing is half the battle! Of course, what I've found is that despite 3 million people bouncing around Xbox Live, no one chats outside of pre-set friend or party games (or rogue Kinect mic set-ups).
I'm still the fool calling out "there's 2 on A," but typically the only response is silence. I'll try to warn folks of an attack, and watch them get mowed down or find myself getting nailed in the back because the other two guys that just ate a bullet didn't decide to tell the third guy that was watching their flank. I remember having a fair amount of chat over CoD 4, World at War, and Modern Warfare 2, both constructive and incredibly inflammatory, but at least it was talking. Have things changed that dramatically since the last game to make talking less interesting in the game?
4. "Diabolical Sabotage" AKA The Art of Hiding
Hiding is not a problem inherent to Black Ops; it happens in every MP game, but when a game like BO brings in millions of new players, it just seems a bit more rampant. The problem I'm talking about is "clipping," when players use the environment to mask their characters in the level design; for example, a dark patch where they can crouch near a barrel they normally shouldn't be able to see around or sneaking their way inside a truck, being able to see out while other players can't see in..
To be clear, hiding in the grass with Ghost Pro, totally cool. Hiding against a pipe where you're half-fused with the level, like some sort of Brundlefly douchebag monstrosity: Totally not. It's an abuse of the geography; you've figured out the exact spot that you can game the system, and congrats, you're a dick, but that's just baloney slices. I'm all for clever spots, like going prone on top of snow-covered structures on WMD but taking advantage of clipping is a bit too much.
As mentioned earlier, some clipping issues have been resolved, and other improvements continue to be made (Ninja should work now), but these were some general observations I've made. Are these similar to the experiences you're having? Am I crazy? Am I wrong? What else have you noticed? Do share when you can!

these things you complain about arent gliches is called human nature. if the only other people who are playing are annoying 9 yearolds then of course everyone will be in a friend party and this is where all other poblems arise from. oh and its a radar jammer not remote controled vehicle jammer. and if the person dosent want to take out a chopper then do it your dang self

i don't think they wii ever be able to fix the spawning problem on the wii because people can run a hole map in seconds so you bound spawn next to some 80% of the time it sucks but it still the best game for the wii if an adult most game are for little kids o and speaking of little kids why are there so many of the playing this and cussing like drunken sailors it really annoying i think that's the biggest bug of all

In call of duty black ops there is something cool in multiplayer yo can have 4 controlers and have people in your party

The reason nobody talks in BO is because everybody either does not have a mic or they are in party chat on XBL. The previous CODs were out before party chat and MW2 forced you to leave party chat. That is probably why you have no communications. Playing BO with friends more. I almost never play with randoms: it is just not as fun.

I shoot down choppers all the time, & see the same thing always, your never going to get someone to do this on there own unless your playing with people you know. It may be team oriented, but the same is single player, you may help out your teammates, but there needs to be more emphasis on getting xp or cod points for assits chopper take downs shooting a rc, if you ever tried shooting a rc it's ridiculously hard lol. I do like how they have different variations of points for assist depending on how much dmg you did to them.
SIAFU_MASIAH
last stand should be removed completely.... especially in hardcore mode
SIAFU_MASIAH
i want my javelin back
SIAFU_MASIAH
last standers in hardcore mode are ....CHEATERS!!!!
You all ruin the "hardcore" part of the game and are a waste of lobby space to other HARDCORE gamers.
why should i have to kill u TWICE to get a kill. but u kill me n 1 or 2 hits..........i have the choice to use last stand as well....... but wheres the HARDCORE in that?
SIAFU_MASIAH
Lag is the biggest prob n the game, it seems the host is effected the most this time...weird. With millions of dollars being made MAYBE SPEND 5 BUCKS N RESEARCH and fix it... i understand there will always be some lag, but why can battlefield 2 figure out how to make what little lag they have seem almost unnoticeable. I am almost 100% certain that the "spawn system" is designed to give the losing team an edge by spawning enemy players in my back pocket when their ENTIRE team is on the other side of the map. prove it to your self....pick any game you have recently played in black ops. go to "theater", start the film, go to free roam cam, and watch the match looking down on the map. you will soon see that the losing team will be spawned in areas that are to their advantage,i.e "directly behind a enemy player, the second a player throws smoke to revive a care package.... BAM... a enemy spawns on top of u.
But to end my b#tch session, id like to speak my mind on "last stand" being used and abused in Hardcore game modes. if i wanted to play a game mode that requires 50 bullets to kill some one and a map to find enemy players id play "regular", or better yet... halo. But i chose to play as realistically as i possibly can and that's Hardcore, there is nothing worse than to play hardcore against a team all using last stand. i shouldn't have to kill them twice, all i ask is keep hardcore ... HARDCORE. If god mode was a perk, u last standers would use it as well l!!!!. where does it end........???????
xTCx_Exile
I personally like the game. I also feel that a lot of the perks and weapons were finally balanced. I also like how team killers get kicked but there is something else I wish I could see. The worst is getting team killed while on a high killstreak. Even if they get killed, your streak is over. Lame. Maybe you should respawn with your streaks intact. Argument is that you could just play regular and not hardcore. But I love hardcore. Anyway, another issue I have is with the napalm strike. I get burned a lot when I'm not in the fire or when I'm IN a freakin' building. Same with the B52. They claim you cant be hit when inside. I also think the RC should detonate claymores and I also agree that they should be a higher streak than 3 or 2. I dont normally use parties and I usually play in big groups. We are all about teamwork. I shoot down everything I can and some of my buddies use second chance. I always heal strangers too. I'm actual happy to see less sniping too but some other weapons are becoming ridiculous as well. And my worst pet peeve as of right now are teammates (strangers) camping on maps like Nuketown. Really??? Go run and gun moron!!! Thats the fun of a small map. But all in all I really enjoy the game. Nothing I said here is truly relevant but we all have our gripes. Just remember that not everything can be fixed or fixed in a short time. I'm just happy I'm not being 203'd every 10 seconds. Since the game was released I think I've been tubed maybe half a dozen times. Not bad. I think the amount of customization opportunities, vast array of game types and well balanced perks make this game every bit as fantastic as I hoped. Oh and for the future....people....use them damn spy planes. They help everybody and are so easy to get. You want massive XP then call in a thousand of those ;) I'm done.

I'm surprised g4 hasn't commented more on all the problems with black ops . This game has been a huge let down to soooooooo many !

BO is pretty good when you get a good team that know what they are doing, like me and my friend can take out a whole team on S&D because we communicate. I usually dont tend to shoot down heli's though because I usually rock ghost pro. Ive noticed very few glitches, and the glitches i have noticed are patched within a few days and longest a week(other than napalm lag). So overall campaign is great, multiplayer is awesome ,with a good team, and zombies is pretty decent so i give BO a 10/10
KSnizzo
Yea I def noticed the lack of taking out choppers, so I always try to. Also for those frustrated, every chopper takes two shots as the first is always thrown off by chafing. I dont really have a problem with that cuz when I get a chopper I want to get at least 1 or 2 kills before it gets taken out. Kill streaks are much harder to come by on this game since the maps are smaller and none of the killstreak rewards add to the killstreak, they have to come honestly. But, yea, use the Strela as it can fire 2 shots and the second will take em down
Androo53095
Hmm... strange I never have those problems in BF:BC2. I wonder why? Oh yeah because most CoD fans are gay ten year olds obsessed with K/D ratio. If my team actually tried to work "as a team" I might actually enjoy the game
herdetrickcorey
I think the reason the chatter on COD BO is a minimum,is because it's always some racist tea bagger, ask'n you silly questions like: Are you black? Or where did you steal your XBOX? This is the type of behavior that really ruins lobbies as a whole. So most people go in party chat or unplug there mic all together.
sloth_gooey
the reason on one does chat online anymore is because all it is is trash talking. if your trying to be serious while those around you are just shouting racial slurs and a 12 year old is telling you how he boned your mom last night, it stops being fun. unfortunatly, the only real way to avoid this is to be in xbox live parties or private chat so talking in online shooters is all but dead
NinjaFishmonger
The writers real problem is not playing with talent. I play with guys that watch each others back and communicate. We are always on mike. The only way to control bad spawns is by dominating one piece of the map.
NinjaFishmonger
The servers are absolutley horrible. Matchmaking can be iffy. And the spawning is insane.
spidertaco
will you dicks please stop talking about that loser brett favre
Rodent_Roadkill
Hey at least there isn't so many excessive Noob-tubing unlike MW2 now that you have to buy the Attachments. so now you don't have to keep firing the 203s just to get a shotgun attachment. Don't get me started on the spawn tubing... the maps on OP are laid out well to where when the clock hits 0 before the game you don't have to worry about a 203 blowing you and your group of friends up...
