BioWare

BioWare has uploaded a mysterious new screenshot for an upcoming project. Despite not confirming what game the picture is from, BioWare did make it Mass Effect 2's Facebook profile picture. They also uploaded two pictures of what appears to be binary code to the page. You can see them after the jump.

BioWare is planning to reveal the new game on December 11. The only clues as to what the game might be are the pictures posted to the ME2 Facebook page and a trailer saying there will be an announcement. The first screenshot is of a soldier in armor getting ready to shoot. Our photo-technician experts agree he could be holding a M-29 Incisor Sniper Rifle, a gun in Mass Effect 2's Aegis Pack.

The other two images are black and white binary codes. When converted the codes come out to 55.845 and 128.5 degrees Fahrenheit. Some Googleing leads us to the words Vostok, Iron and space flight.

Two months ago it was revealed that BioWare was looking for a lead designer for an upcoming "military genre FPS." The screenshot definitely looks more military than Mass Effect.  I can't help but wonder: if this is in fact a new IP, then why use the Mass Effect 2 page to promote it? What do you think it's for?

Check back here on the December 11 for information on the announcement.

The numbers listed in the article are what the QR codes translate into.

Each code consists of 7-bit binary numbers - they represent a number between 0 and 255. The extended ASCII character set used by computers uses 0 through 255 to signify a letter, number, or character. When you run the binary numbers against an extended ASCII chart, you get the numbers stated in the article.

if theres any possible thing it can be if its in the ME timeline it is likely since that is like an older armor. And the fact he is a human it may or may not be a visit to the First contact war in the shoes of someone else other then shepard but meh just a guess.

Well Vostok is in Russia so maybe we finally get to go to Earth in the next installment. That gun definitely looks like the incisor rifle so I'm leaning towards mass effect. If it's not ME3 then it's probably a very substantial piece of DLC. Guess we'll find out in a few weeks :)

Hmm I'd say with all the facts and clues this would be a Mass Effect Prequel and i'm totally cool with that. Also if Blur Studios makes the trailer I'm totally cool with it as well.

Maybe it'll tell the story before or the first time humans went through the relays.

This maybe a ME3 tease but I personally dooubt it. The one area unexplored in the ME universe is the first contact war, maybe we're geting our first look at a millitar FPS set around that time with a previous generation of the incisor rifle.

The only thing I can think of other than a new IP is a military-type FPS set in the Mass Effect universe from the eyes of a normal soldier. It would definetely be interesting and they would have battles to draw from. I wonder though, if it is a Mass Effect FPS, would it be a prequel, sometime in either game/between the two/encompassing the whole time of both games, or a continuation of the story.

I'll buy whatever Bioware makes so it doesn't really matter what new title it is. Whatever comes out of the Bioware factory is AAA+ stuff.

Well if it's got Bioware's name on it, it can't be bad at all.

That's Right "LOOK CLOSER" this is so exciting to know the Bioware is working on a new project, and what's even more exiting is finding out at the end of the teaser clip a message which states look Closer, then a image of our favorite cowboy face w/ cowboy hat white from fallout new vegas. I dont know what that means but why are on the same teaser, is it acually a bioware fallout game?

Not only does the rifle look like a ME Sniper, but the scales and the grey of the armor sure look like the N7 suit.

So, has anyone tried scanning those QR codes with a proper reader and seeing if either one takes them to a website?

I don't have one on my phone because it's old.
