BioWare has uploaded a mysterious new screenshot for an upcoming project. Despite not confirming what game the picture is from, BioWare did make it Mass Effect 2's Facebook profile picture. They also uploaded two pictures of what appears to be binary code to the page. You can see them after the jump.
BioWare is planning to reveal the new game on December 11. The only clues as to what the game might be are the pictures posted to the ME2 Facebook page and a trailer saying there will be an announcement. The first screenshot is of a soldier in armor getting ready to shoot. Our photo-technician experts agree he could be holding a M-29 Incisor Sniper Rifle, a gun in Mass Effect 2's Aegis Pack.
The other two images are black and white binary codes. When converted the codes come out to 55.845 and 128.5 degrees Fahrenheit. Some Googleing leads us to the words Vostok, Iron and space flight.
Two months ago it was revealed that BioWare was looking for a lead designer for an upcoming "military genre FPS." The screenshot definitely looks more military than Mass Effect. I can't help but wonder: if this is in fact a new IP, then why use the Mass Effect 2 page to promote it? What do you think it's for?

I think it could be the next new Mass Effect or Mass Effect 3. :) I be and happy with a new IP from BioWare they are great at making futuristic Shooter/RPG's. I do think it Mass Effect. I hope whatever it is and be, it not first person, there are many FPS and games. If this new IP or Mass Effect I hope it be great just like Mass Effect, KOTOR and Dragon Age etc... :)
If they did something like in oblivion where you can change your character view from Third-person-Fisrt person that be great. That be awesome too. I like seeing the character and body, not just the guns or windows. I hope it great, will be great. Whatever it is I hope it be Mass Effect, more Mass Effect or a new IP. ^^ I'm a huge Mass Effect fan, so I hope it be Mass Effect. ^^

It's a Mass Effect product, but not directly involved in the ME universe. Maybe a standalone multiplayer? or mayhaps, a prequel.

Why in Little Sweet Baby Jesus in a Tuxedo T-Shirt won't Bioware put the same development crew on SWTOR that they use for Mass Effect? Instead SWTOR gets the cartoony-kiddy freak crew from Dragon Age.

A first person shooter taking place during the First Contact War between the Turians and the Humans would be EPIC!
Bioware has given the Mass Effect universe such an expansive history that it would be a crying shame not to be able to play through one of the most important events in the in the Mass Effect canon.
I also think that a gritty FPS would would better suit the First Contact War better than the sometimes over dramatized style of the ME 1 & 2, what with all the blue stuff flying around.

MAYBE the fps is about the Contact Wars in the Mass Effect Universe. THAT WOULD BE SWEET!

i can tell you I have no clue what the game is but they are posting it on facebook probably just to promote it to their fans better. And that rifle does not look like a modern rifle. Unless it's a modified DSR that's possible but then look at the scope. It's kind of like an old WWII early Vietnam scope with an NV bonded on the front. Interesting apocalypse shooter scavenging parts to make what he can. Who could possibly know.

I think it is mass effect 3. We know mass effect 3 is in the pipeline, even if it hasn't been announced yet, dragon age 2 is coming next year, as is SW:TOR, so i think that four concurrent projects is a little much for one studio, even for a studio as awesome and talented as bioware. Yes, they have multiple offices, but still, 4 major games, one of which is a huge MMO, is a lot to do at one time. I think this is ME 3 because of that. All i know for sure is that I am going to buy this day one, whatever it is

Well, given the tech of the armor and the weapon, I'd say this probably has something to do with either new DLC for Mass Effect 2, or possibly a reveal for Mass Effect 3?

That looks like chain link fence in the background so i doubt it is ME3.
I think game developers stepping out of their comfort zones,while being risky,is a good thing.It allows them to try new things and broaden their repertoire when it comes to game design,keeping the games they produce fresh( so we hope).
With the pedigree Bioware have garnered,i think fans will have faith they will come up with something new,exciting and still remaining loyal to old school Bioware fanboys/girls.
Let's just hope they don't water down this alleged new IP in order to please an already over saturated(in my opinion) genre,that is military shooters.

Maybe it isn't an entirely brand new, different, fresh IP, but one that is placed within the Mass Effect universe just as a FPS title rather than the RPG that is typical Mass Effect.

Maybe a new DLC for ME2, Maybe ME3, Maybe a Mass Effect related FPS..who knows, we'll see December 11th.
