The Homefront release date has been announced. According to its facebook page, THQ's speculative fiction first-person-shooter is coming out on March 8, 2011.
In case you're unfamiliar, Homefront posits a near history in which North Korea, the world's most scary/interesting totalitarian nightmare, gets it together to invade the United States. It's a far-fetched but fascinating scenario, especially as fodder for a video game.
I'm probably as excited for Homefront as any game coming out, and not just because they sold me amusing tacos once. Here are two reasons I'm going to gert Homefront when it launches:
1) A personal interest in North Korea: Those people over there are weird.
2) I'm really hoping THQ's focus on more "core" titles like Homefront pays off. Kinect, Move and Facebook games are fun and all, but we need developers and publishers focused on the "real" gamers too. I hope this works out for them.
Anyway, check out this hands-on Homefront video in action.

Here is something Battlefield/Bad Company players may or may not know:
Homefront is being developed by Kaos Studios, whose only previous full title was Frontlines: Fuel of War. The studio was formed in 2006 from the remnants of Trauma Studios, which was best known for Battlefield 1942 mod Desert Combat and for helping DICE in the development of Battlefield 2 before being liquidated.

This game looks very interesting but I'll need a demo before I'm willing to buy it.

This looks promising and I hope Kaos Studios comes through with a great title. The upcoming 4 new free maps in Bad Company 2, BC2 Vietnam and this will definitely hold me over until Battlefield 3.

Homefront definitely looks interesting, not just like your average shooter either. If all the right elements are put together then this could be a hit when it releases.
