Feast your mind on the DC Universe Online screenshot above. It's part of a totally exclusive DC Universe screenshot gallery we've got for you.
DC Universe Online isn't out until the beginning of 2011, but if you want an early look, check out Monday's X-Play, where we'll bring you a tour of Sony Online Entertainment's Texas offices and see DC Universe Online firsthand.
We talked to Chris Cao, DC Universe's Online Game Director and Jens Andersen, DC Universe Online's Creative Director, to learn the story behind the game and get details on the DCUO's mentoring system, where the famous heroes and villains of the DC Universe teach you how to play... can you imagine taking super-hero lessons from Batman? Or learning the finer points of chaos and evil from The Joker himself?
Check it out on X-Play, Monday at 3:30 ET!

Will there be a demo? I don't want to buy a game then have to pay a monthly fee for something I may not even enjoy.

Has anyone else realized that just about every screen cap of an MMO being played looks almost the same? I mean there's people hacking with odd streaks of light, others flinging spells/lasers/bullets and more people with weird miscellaneous effects coming to/from them. I'm sure someone who is up to date with the developer will be able to decipher what's happening, but a person with a passive interest in this game, such as myself, is simply unimpressed.
I know someone will say something like 'that can be said of any game genre', and they would be right. Maybe my point is that screen shots of action game play doesn't work and makes your game seem generic. If you want to use the caps to show off the graphics, the art direction, scenery, models that's fine, but an isolated action shot just doesn't give enough information.
That said, and my thumbs down fate sealed, I am digging the look of the background.

so I'm just guessing that the time posted was supposed to be either 6:30 ET or 3:30 PT. Just checking otherwise I'm going to have to set my DVR.

@Gambit1023:
Dude, that question has been answered more times than "who's there?" Yes, there is a subscription fee, it is 14.99 a month, and that is standard for a quality MMO, even on a platform. Final Fantasy does it, and so does SOE(also owned by Sony). They have stated that they have dev teams specifically devoted to creating new monthly content, and that there will in fact be monthly updates.
There is a ton of info on DCUO. Simply google it, go to their Facebook page where they have dev videos and the dev team answers questions that people ask. Also the community is well versed in all this info. Another place to go is DCUO Source.
It's out there, look for it.

Sure there is, $15 a month. It may never come out though.
